Have read many case of internet cafes installing keyloggers, trackers etc etc & while I'm in BKK & Pattaya for that matter) will probably need to access email, brokers, online banking etc etc.
Can some of you guys recommend some places where it is reasonably safe (as far as you know) to access the net.
I'm staying at the RP on Soi 15.

In BKK there is a (very) small Laundry/Internet Cafe at Sukhumvit/Soi 13. It is about 6 business down on the RHS, right past a small massage studio. Easy to miss.
I think there are only 4 stations. Run usually by a girl with glasses who looks 13 who is often folding laundry up front.
At least 1 of the stations runs Firefox. I went at least 5 times during my last recent trip, and several times 6 months ago. Never had a problem. 1bt/min. Reasonable connection speed, although I wasn't doing any heavy downloads. Opens about 10:30am - don't know when it closes.
I did look for nefarious software and didn't find any. HOWEVER, it doesn't mean that there isn't any, or that something hasn't changed in the last week or so. They don't lock down the browser options, so you can clear cache/history/favorites, passwords, etc (not true of Guliver's).
Also, I NEVER access any financial sites from a public Internet Cafe, including this one.

Never tried the laundry service, but it seemed busy. I did ask the young girl about the laundry service and I think she said next day.
If you really need to access financial sites I would get to a station and then check things like current processes running, initial starting programs, and the like.
They were pretty friendly. You might even be able to run something like adaware, spybot or trojanhunter with their permission.
There are also more specific anti-keylogging software programs available. If memory serves me right (not quite sure of this) I believe I saw an anti-keylogging program running on the station I was on. Ask them.

At the end of Soi 11, near President Solitaire, there is a small, but very nice Internet cafe.
I can not guarantee the security, but the girl who managed the cafe this summer was certainly honest:
One day she overcharged me 14 baht by accident (without my knowledge). When I later that evening passed the cafe, she sat there with the 14 baht in her hand - full of apologies. I thanked her, took the money, but of course tipped her more than that later.
She propably sat there on the porch all afternoon watching out for me.

Maco88- Soi 15? Why you'll be right across Sukh. from the best internet cafe on the strip. Look for the Times Square Building just opposite of soi 15 and on the second floor [left side, as seen from outside] you'll see the Internet Cafe.
They seem to have changed the name or signage in the past month so I'm not gonna name names.

What makes the Internet Cafe in the Times Square Building "the best"? Price, service, speed, availability, location,...?

ive been to that times square int.cafe it aint nuttin special.
you want special try the one in patpong the one wit the short alley, therea beautifuk girl working there. her friends seem to be sex workers so I dont know if she is or isnt. she cant be making too mut $ there, maybe she is a christian.
