I've set up a Skype account and want to do a bank transfer of USD 300 to kick it off, but Skype's payment service is offline and has been for weeks, they have no help numbers, just an automated help function that after you send an email is responded to by a robot, totally crap, the only way I have managed to pay is by credit card and the max is USD 10 each time, i'm spending that in a day and it's becoming a real pain. Can any bro's help me out with a good alternative for VOIP calling from Thailand ?

Actually, you can pay $25.00 each time. If you are using Paypal, you can have it auto-recharge when your balance drops below $2.00.
As for the their bad connection service it happened perhaps 5-6 weeks ago. Otherwise, it has been fine for me.

If all you are looking for is outgoing calls, you might try http://www.internetcalls.com - Once you fund the account with any amount, they have free calls (300 min per week) to many countries and even if you hit that limit, rates are good., I used my friend's account for awhile, as he said it was good and I was very skeptical. But I found the quality is awesome for calls, as good as Skype or any other I have tried. I use it exclusively now.

Different concept though. Connection goes from phone (land or mobile) via IP to another phone (land or mobile). It's just local calls on free numbers phonewise. Jajah itself is not free besides calls between Jajah members inside US and some others.
You order a call via internet from your Jajah account, then you get a call from Jajah and after you pick the other side (must not be Jajah member) gets call and if they pick you get connected...
Good thing is that you're clear of poor ip connections in your home or hotel this way...

I have been using Skype for quite a while and I prefer it to land line calls. I pay through PayPal and also have a Skype ‘Out’ number in the country of my choice that is forwarded to my mobile in BKK, anytime I am not at the computer. If you live in the Bronx for example; and the majority of your calls go / from there then they simply call your local ‘Skype Out’ number in NY to reach you anywhere and it is always a local call for the calling party. Skype out includes voice mail too. For me it works great.
Be sure you are; ‘Online’ when placing calls. Not necessary for receiving though.

Did you try voipbuster? My wife uses it to make her calls to LOS. Really cheap. The rates are 1 Cent (Euro) per minute.
