I think the price for the hotels are going up now. I look for hotels in Pattaya for next month, they are more expensive...or b/c I look at the holiday weekend???
For Pattaya, you can do 1 day and 1 night....so go there in the morning..then take the ferry boat to the island...eat lunch there and enjoy the beach for few hours...then enjoy the rest of the evenning back in the mainland...for the live show (i guess you are talking about lady boy show) I think the show at Pattaya is better than BKK.

One other option I need to mention is the Town Lodge, it is a little out of the way on Soi 18 but the owner is a long time member of the BTF (ringthebells) and it has an on-site bar, Toxic, that also offers ladies for 'take-out'.
Town Lodge rocks!! And I wouldn't call it "out of the way" at all...maybe a kilometer walk and you're at Sukhumvit...almost right across the street from Soi Cowboy, I might add...I usually walk the girls back to Town Lodge from Cowboy, nobody's ever complained, haha...
If you can't handle a kilometer, there are almost always taxis coming out of the connector soi (20 to 18), at least in the daytime...

The walk to Town Lodge is not that far. I find it pleasantly relaxing stroll, especially at nite. As mentioned previously you can often catch a Taxi at the connector Soi. When going to Town Lodge in a Taxi, I get let off at the connector Soi and walk.
