pretty serious stuff here...I just opened the thread to see if there was an updated exchange rate...
LOL, what no more bitching about the price of a gallon of gas or about GWB? That is what I thought this thread was for.

A bit off, ok, long way off the $ track Sarge, but you have probably hit the nail on the head in this comment, "
Europe has a massive Muslim population, projection for 2006 census is in excess of 15m and that has a significant impact on their foreign politics. A time bomb waiting to explode. That also partly explain why France never participated to Iraq war (you wrong there mate) as they have well in excess of 4m muslims, accounting 7% of their population".

Muslims are holding Europe to ransom. You are correct, France did not go with the coalition, they had no guts. Spain pulled out of the coalition because of terrorist attacks in the country.

The Bali bombings of 2002 killed around 208 westerners including 88 aussies, but that did not stop Australia going with the coalition. The bombing outside the Australian embassy in SEA a couple of years ago killing 11 and destroying part of the embassy was not a sufficient reason to withdraw from the coalition like Spain & a few other countries did. Australia has a muslim population of around 350K or around 2.5pc, so we know it is a "time bomb", but f*** em, they do not run the country and we will not be held to ransom like Europe.

Australia, an extension of mother England had to follow suit in most wars as you would be aware of, and we were there in the 1st & 2nd WW before the USA. NATO applies to countries in the North Atlantic, we are in the South Pacific, similar to Sth America, Africa, India & SEA, so we do not sit on that panel. Nobody is our master, if there is a legitimate cause, ie freedom and the like, we will act accordingly within our capabilities. The 450 troops heading to Afghanistan should make the taliban shake in their boots, they, the aussies would love to mix it with that shit.

Now apart from that stuff, Songkran was good. I did get out to some villages on the bike and got wet many times, it was surely hot up here. I did read somewhere Khon Kaen had the most fatalities in LOS but not sure of 23 for Udon, have not seen or heard that for confirmation.

France did go with the coalition in Afghanistan. It was there too in gulf war 1. And in Irak, France did what good friends should do and warned the US about the awful mess it was getting into. Subsequent events proved that the warning was unfortunately warranted. Now it's up to friends to listen to advice coming from friends, isn't it?

Interestingly, there were discussions in the early 50' between France and the US to just do that... France did not have nukes at the time it was involved in Vietnam so it would have been american ones which would have been used.

That said, France could only lose half of Vietnam and it is thanks to the actions of our good friends the Americans that the second half was definitively lost. Again, that's what good friends are for...

Not to spoil the OT party, but this was interesting today in Bloomberg:

Thailand's capital controls on Dec. 18 sent the stock index down 15 percent the following day, forcing authorities to exempt equities. Investors in bonds and property won a waiver on March 1. The controls also spawned an offshore exchange rate that trades 6.7 percent stronger than the onshore rate.

So, can someone pass me what the exchange rate is at the airport for the US Dollar, please? Just the $100.00 note and the $100.00 TC. And can someone also pass what the rates are at the Emporium counters? Thanks!

I don't want to be charged 6.7% if there are two (2) exchange rates for one (1) currency due to really bad monetary planning.

Gyaos.

I was referring to the current ongoing situation. France/Spain buckled under a minority of muslims in Europe, those countries fell apart at the knees. How could a Frenchman or Spaniard hold their head up in public and feel proud. What were they thinking, 'leave them and the problem will go away', yeah right toothless tigers.

So much for sticking with their friends. What credible advice could they contribute too the coalition, " We give you the coalition this advice......... (after about an hour), sorry nothing".

It had to happen one day, Christians against muslims, so keep it up and fight them on their ground. I have no problem with the current war, cutting off financial funding and any other means at hand which can interrupt and cripple their terrorist activities.
