I don't know how technically involved you are with the architecture of the Bangkok Tonight Forum. But I would like to submit this enhancement request in case you are in a position to make usability of the forum better.
I always check for the most recent posts using the "Last 25 posts" feature. However, I find that the "25" post limit is too small, and I don't want to troll through the topics one at a time to figure out which posts I have missed. Just increased the "25" limit would be a Band-Aid solution. So...
I recommend you rename this feature "Most Recent Posts" and provide a "next 25 posts" button and "previous 25 posts" button to enable the user to index through the posts as far as they wish.

This board is run on Ikonboard, a free perl based board. A rather older version of it actually (recent one is v3.12 I think).
If BK has the php and mysql installed, I recommend he upgrade to this board:
http://www.invisionboard.com/
It's also free and I "think" you may be able to port the users/messages over.

I agree, 'most recent' should be made longer; extra 'next 25' wld be good.
'check new posts' works well, when it works -
My ideal would be a MyForum page, where you can set your own preferrences, eg - see all posts by xxx, bar aaa, save records of your own posts etc....
BUT
Wouldnt want to overload BK - he must already take a computer to work on while he's getting serviced!!
By the way BK, nice snaps at the RT - you got a good one of me there looking a bit dazed (but definately not confused!!)

Agree, and have the same problem. I always look at last 25 posts.. but if I miss a day or more than I'm completely out of the loop unless I go troll through each and every topic.. sometimes I just don't have time to do that!

Agree. My 2 cents' worth would be to show the newest posts in each section of the forums, something along the lines of http://www.esato.com/board/, when you click the new posts link at the top you'll see what I mean.
But hey, this is a free and very informative forum that is all in good spirits; that's what makes it so special.

This is actually the only board I''ve seen that has the
ability to view the most recent posts across all sections of
the board. Whatever you decide, please, please, please
do not switch to another board that doesn't have this
convenient feature.
