Balbir and Mrs. Balbir are good folks - very generous, and knowlegable about food, of course, but about Bangkok and Thailand in general. I've had a beer or two w/Balbir, at the Ambassador food court next door...
The deal, however, is to go to Hair Design FIRST...THEN go to Mrs. Balbir's...some things are better on an empty stomach.
Just thought you'd like to know...

Since Thai girls generally do NOT like Indian food - "men mak-mak", you will most likely be alone anyway.

Just stumbled upon this thread via the last 25 and ended up reading it backwards. Nice thread guys! Got that old time BKKtonight we used to know and love vibe going strong.
Coincidentally I found myself thinkin' just what Humble expressed as I got there too. So ditto Ham sup! Sorry you aren't there, but reaping the rewards over here nonetheless thanks brother! 
Anyway, I'm in my last 36 hours until airborne for 8 glorious weeks of meanderings in LOS and will need a trim on arrival. Found myself schemin' (before I read the thread mind you!)in the mind to get a trim at least once a week and get to know the cuties a bit more. So now my question goes out to Deep File and Haam, if I do hang around enough to get know would you have any tips on best trim and/or best BBBJ upstairs. I'll pursue both with a bit of diligence. Promise!

It's against the policy of this board, and my policy personally, to identify specific girls, or in any way compromise their privacy in public, so I can't/won't name names. I hope everybody understands.
I WILL say this: Hair Design is NOT really typical. It is a bit more personal and friendly than most oily MPs , and unique, in that you can (and, I say, should) go in for a drink and some laughin' and scratchin' with the girls there. Unlike SOME places, they encourage it. Chemistry will go a long way toward your satisfaction, and it may take repeat visits to find the right one, and for things to get comfortable.
That MAY be the reason why it is such a nice place, and escapes the less refined punter's attention. It ain't ideal for wham-bam-thank you, ma'am...
On the other hand, in how many MPs can you attend a New Year's eve party, be one of 3 guys among 14 girls, dance, drink, and be accepted as a friend by girls who are generally demure and all-around above average?
If you're looking for a sure thing, you're better off going to Baron's or one of the many fine MPs.
Please don't remind me that certain girls' names are ALREADY posted in the Baron's thread; that pre-existed the realization that Thai girls were entitled to some respect and dignity, regardless of their livelyhood. If you need to re-live the debates, use the search function...
I just think of them as friends, as far as it goes...

HS demonstrates his usual insight with the preceding post; very informative and "spot on". I would only add that I did post the name of the barber at Hair Design earlier, with her permission. She ONLY does haircuts, shaves, nails, etc but she is good (unlike many/most of the so-called "barbers" around town). And she speaks enough English to get your instructions correct. (No, I don't get commissions).
It would not be very useful to post the names of the "upstairs" girls anyway; the turnover is regular so they come and go... and as HS says you really need to make more than one stop there to enjoy the best service. It's not the place if you're looking for more than an oily with hj... or a haircut. Haam Suup is actually one of the house rules... For the more exotic stuff you are better off at Baron or 33.

Found my way to (error) T (Nana) barber!
On my first day in town, I had been working on two weeks of beard growth and decided to get it cut off. I got a cute korean looking thai. Mature, but still sexy. I signed up for a shave and a facial, and was glad I did! I got one hell of a treatment. It was great getting a shave from a woman.  Delicate and thorough. The Facial afterwards included lots of massage with different oils, none of them stinging. All for less than 500 baht. Gave the barber a nice tip and got a nice wai. There were some real hot TG's in there, lounging around when the traffic was light. They don't have barber shops like this back in the states. I knew I would be back. Went back for a shave and a manicure two days later. I got the same lady. I was to find out she was the barber! Another nice treatment, and I left with a smile on my face and a swing in my step! I went back one more time my last day in town and got all the curls cut off. Staff in shop tell me barber won't be in for a while so I leave to use the internet shop down the road to be back a little later. Same TG as barber, and she treats me to a gentle hair cut. Damn, Now I wish I had got a foot or other massage from one of the hot TG's while I waited for the barber!  Oh well there is always next time.
