An update on Cleopatra - best avoided. There are about 20 girls, but all are skanks... doesn't come much worse. They are either topless or naked, but it would be more pleasant if they were not. A sort of "show" occurs sporadically... blowing out candles, horns, whistles, darts... the usual drill; lifeless, mechanical and devoid of interest.
It has the feel of a place that may close any time... the women are a sad mob of desperados, begging for drinks without shame or discretion. Beer at 90b and still no customers. Thumbs down, lads.
The show scene in PP is pretty sad... this is one activity that the social order bunch have fatally disrupted.

I somehow managed to volunteer my services for tonight 17/6/04 to show some first time visitors (husband and wife) friends of a friend whom I have never met some Patpong sex shows. I have not done this circuit for many years, but most of the bars on the original DF list I know well enough but things may have changed in time. I was thinking of doing the following, but am open to suggestions from anyone in the know. I found these legit in the past, but I think you could go astray anywhere given the right moment.
Queens Castle (the one above Camelot)
Wildcat... have not been here since the name change.. is it basically the same as before.

Cleopatra... DF.. Do you really think it should be given a miss. This was always one of the safer bets. What is totally stale to us may not be for wide eyed first timers.
I have no idea what the evening has in store. It maybe one bar or many, I may find my own greener pastures after one or two places.
Anyone want to join PM me. Maybe the it would be the more the merrier, or am I just hedging my bets.

Visited Queens Castle two weeks ago with some friends who were over from UK on holiday. We were pissed when we got there at 10.00 p.m. from the Thai Boxing It is my only excuse for what happened.
Two seat warmers for each of us. Bottle of Black. Everyone got a drink. Sporadic show - banana, ping pong balls, etc. The girl shooting the ping pong balls was a dearer bar fine at 300, the rest 200 each. A real mixture of 5's to 8's. One 9 1/2 who should be avoided at all costs, I am told she is star-fish material (by the mamasan, hahahaha)
Boy was I pissed off when I picked up the tab. THB 7,400!!! and that was before the bar-fines. Expensive show or what!
We must have bought the whole place a bloody drink. I felt like a newby again............you live and learn!
I have had cheaper weeks with a TGF! f_cked if I am going back in a hurry!!

All I know is that about 12 years ago, I went in with a group to one of those upstairs bars and we got ripped off royally. And we even had Thai guys from our company there with us and they still got us. Since then I have found it best to just avoid those places.

Offhand, this doesn't sound like a total rip off. I can easily see someone racking up that kind of bill for such a large party.

Yes, it does not look like an unreasonable bill for a party in the bar with everyone going for maximum consumption. I have paid more in Napoleon for a round (Soi 33) though once only.
The problem comes when you are asked to pay for something you had checked beforehand. I once was in the same position of taking a party of tourists round. I checked very carefully "No cover charge sir".
They neglected to mention the 300 Baht each for the "show".
Argued, paid a fair some for the drinks and left asap before meat cleavers came out. They were not happy!!!

I don't quite understand. I've been visiting Queens Castle, Pussy Galore and Queens Castle II for years.
It's these places that are know for their fair practices and don't charge anything for shows. Even happy hour at Queens Castle (used to be Pussy Galore) runs until 10:30 pm with 50 baht drinks (even for bottled drinks).

qc 1 + 2 don't charge for shows and never did! unfortunatley some venues of the kings group have been known for bill paddling. this is not a problem of the owner or management but some of the bartenders or waiters tend to slip extra drinks or do miscalculate in their benefit.
never had a problem in qc, in other kings group bars I just order bottles, mixer free so it is easy to calculate thb 1,700 for the bottle, that's it no additional costs. if girls want ld-drinks I give them drinks from my bottle, cheap charlie as I am, so also no extra costs there!

I would say relatively fair practices. I don't doubt that the girls noticed these guys were being relatively loose with drinks and that the guys ended up buying more drinks than they meant to. Guys are much more generous and less attentive to whom they are buying drinks for when they are on a common tab. At the end of the night it's impossible to tell who agreed to buy whom a drink.

I think I was caught.
Look guys, I rang the bell with friends last Thursday night on 33 in two places (cause it was dead and we wanted to liven it up). Didn't bat an eyelid - the bill was expected, you understand??
It is not the size of the bill, but that there was a bottle of Black there in front of us and I thought that was what was being offered around.

When I realised they weren't doing the black and just kept stuffing drink slips into the pot........STOP!!!
Look it was my fault. It just shows how easy you can be ripped off if the radar is down. Mine was totally wasted!
I will still go back, 55555.........I think it is a fun place for visitors. I have an agreement with the little banana-shooting cutie that she gets a bar-fine tip if she hits my friend with the banana!
