The rumor is that some guy from Sophia University in Tokyo is going to take over that bar to make it into an information exchange operation. I forgot his name but he was Irish and taught there at the Dept. of Comparative Culture--guess that qualifies him!

So what about it BK, Pinga, or even newbie? Are these places still up and runing? I dont care for happy house info. unless you're going to say they put in an elevator lol. I've been there and dont miss the small condoms, small stairs, and small, yet hot, rooms. But this Rose beer bar? Sweethearts?

Brother, I cannot get rid of my smiley face...why? cos you certainly can pay a visit to this bar anyway. It is still operating although it changed the manager and name as well. Last time it was called ORANGE bar. Yep, you can have a cold beer and a nice air-con environment for a while. The pool table is still there. I could see it from outside....
However, you cannot pick anyone from here unless you like gays. The place was taken by a guy who thought a gay bar was necessary for Soi 7. fat chance!!!!
"ROSEBAR beer bar" has become a GAY BAR till further notice my dear friend....what a pitty!

The Soi 7 Rose doesn't even have own staff? Just overflow from the Beergarden?
If so I'd avoid the place as the Beergarden is infamous for skanky girls who run up a food/drink tab before you get into the picture but then they and the house try to stick you with their bill.
Nothing special about either looks or erformance with any girl I ever took out of that place.
Give it a miss.

I was a good friend of the former 2 "managers" of this place and followed the trend of the bar till it became a gay bar.
The place never ever got own staff as far as I know. Old freelancers helped with the service and got tips from the manager in turn. The other TGs were not entirely from Beer Garden but mainly freelancers, which were happy to get bf for a ST: 1K and a LT 1.5K. Certainly, a place to get a chiller and shot some pool but nothing else.

The Rose Bar Beer or whatever it was before it was a gay bar turned into a gay bar and then turned into the "Winking Frog" and it's not a half-bad place.
It's got a very British menu and I thought the roast, potatoes and pudding were quite good. Not cheap nor dear and a good selection of beer and spirits.
Pool table and toilets upstairs. The decor is a little jarring since the back is just a sort of null dining space with Limey sporting regalia on the walls while the front is precious glass-and-chrome.
At a guess that's a holdover from the gay bar days as is most likely the wide selection of liqours and liquers still on the shelves. There's things up there you wouldn't expect to sit beside whisky and gin in a in a full-on Brit place.
I'd say give it a chance. The food is worth going back for or just have a drink up front if you can resist the urge to act metrosexually. No bargirls on the premises nor freelancers and you wouldn't want the waitstaff to know where you stay, but for a break from the game it might work for you.
