Even if I know that this posting would make smile most of the old hands of this board I thought it might interest some of the less experienced brothers.
I now stay in the Pratunam area and here are some samples of the prices I pay here:
TTM,oil massage, foot massage: 1 hour :
139 bahts (10 hours even get you 1 hour free in some places!)
In some places oil massage will have a happy ending (HJ or BJ) but for sure nothing like barons or Tulip because in most places you dont have a privcate room but a simple cubicle, some of the massage girls there are real cute too
internet: 30 bahts per hour for a decent connection with plasma screen (compare this to the 50 bahts per 15mn for a very slow connection with a 14 inch screen from the 80's in some places in sukhumvit!)
drinks : a BIG Singha bottle in a local karaoke (small ones not avalaible) will cost you between 75 and 90 bahts, the ice to put in it is free LOL
girls : in the tiny karaoke there are plenty of girls, most as good looking as the average NEP girls BUT speaking NO english and still dressed "Issan Fashion", so it take a little bit of time and effort to find the good ones. Those girls will go with you only if they like you (some refuse farang customers), prices are 200 bahts for barfine and 1000 to 1500 bahts for LT
It is some time a nice change to go there instead of sukhumvit: if you feel like drinking with some friends in a quiet (but ugly) and dont want to pay 130 bahts per beer and having girls harrassing you for cola's then this area is for you..
take taxi with your friends to go there from sukhumvit (cost 50 to 60 bahts), select a karaoke, offer a drink to a karaoke girl, ask her to sing a bit (if she sing too badly offer her some more drink and try again, it might help LOL), be fun and nice and you will probably have a good time with her.
REMEMBER : you are NOT in NEP, so it is better to be more polite and to show more respect in those places, those places catter virtually only to Thai and one does not need to get too much attention with some bad behaviour there.
For the ones who are not familiar with the area just ask any taxi driver to drop you at "Indra Square" and then walk in the direction opposite pratunam market, the karaoke are located after the railway, you would recognize them at their myriads of little lights outside. Have a look at the girls first (there are 5 to 15 girls in each place) and when you see one you like then stop and enjoy

Thanks, madfrog, sounds like it might be worth a try on my next visit. Two months ago, we hit the Thai gogos at Saphan Kwai, so Pratunam sounds like a place to add to the list.

If you go there dont expect anything like a gogo bar, those Karaoke catter virtually only to Thai, they are small, ugly and cheap, if you like hight end places dont go there, but if a quiet place with cheap drink, music and friendly girls does it for you then give it a try !
But if you behave normally you wont have any problem and will have a good time.
Last time I was there was with my favorite Eden girl and we left the place drunk and hapy (total for the equivalent of 16 normal beers+ some thai food+a few songs for my gril was slightly under 1000 bahts!)

I think I have been to this area with my regular & her two friends a couple of times.
Went to a Karaoke, girls sang about three times each, me once (enough they said) drank many large Singha amongst us, some cola and had a large plate of fruit/nuts/nibbles.
I think the whole thing cost me little over a thousand.
It is good value there. We sat in the front area quite early & it was only when I was leaving I realised I was the only farang there. Suppose I should have noticed earlier, but environment was very comfortable.
Didn't pay much attention to the no. of girls etc. since I brought my own.
Anyhow, I had a good time there and can recommend it for a bit of fun with your girls etc.

Thanks for great info on "Indra Square". Exactly the information im looking for.
Are we talking about the area between Bayokee ll and Century park hotel. I think the road is Ratcha Prarop with maybe 10-15 places on a stretch of about one kilometer ?
I went a couple of years ago but was at that time to shy to be there and spoke no thai. Since I forgot all about it. Will try again.
There must be lots of areas in bangkok like this. Maybe somebody knows more?

Good info about Pratunam madfrog. Thnx for further specifics Kakuka.... This kind of subject comes up every few months or so it seems (see the current "Cheapest in Bkk", also "Numbered Hotels", etc) and there are a few threads devoted to this subject which I think there's been lots of good entries on in this MISC NIGHTLIFE forum here; I don't want to go over it all again of course.... but since you're asking about other spots, Kakuka, I remember there being some interesting areas in Thonburi and on Chan Rd mentioned... And yes, elsewhere? Love to find out as well!

Indra square is actually the name of a (crappy) commercial center where they sell maintly clothe, I simply gave this name so that when you take taxi you have something to say that your taxi driver will understand.
Once in Indra Square you can or walk for 5 mn in the direction opposite Patunam Market (go past the railway and maybe 2mn later you will see the Karaokes) or you can also just say "throng Paď" (straight on) to your taxi and wait until you see the karaoke.
There are some similar karaoke in Yaowarat (chinatown), but I never visited them so o cant tell you more.
I also been invited last month by 6 Eden girls to go to a "Issann style disco" (something called "Issan Totönn" I think), that is located somewhere across the Chao paya river, not very far from Sonam Luang.
It was a new experience to me and I was clearly the only farang there too.
The place was actually nicely decorated and had some (terrible) Issan music and a VERY friendly atmosphear.
I cant tell you about the price because the girls refused that I pay anything. There was some girls and boys dressed in white that were avalaible for p4p, the girls being for most of them very nice to look at. I asked one of the Eden girl about prices and she told me (giggling ) that a 2 hour "massage" with one of the boys was "300 bahts only" and asked me if I was interested 555
It was a nice experience to go there with those girls and to see them "out of duty", they really are nice peoples to be with. (one of them insisted to introduce me her younger sister who was a real hottie, you have to love those girls!)
