Anyone know of some fun happening over on Phaholyothin near Soi Ari? I have scanned the theads but nothing much seems to come up.

Last time I hung out in that area, it was more of a chillout area where Thai ppl can gather, eat, drink and sing and some smallish restaurants.

Soi Ari has some very nice restaurants and is an interesting soi in which to wander around some evening, but no girlie action there. Not a bad place for an evening if you already have a date, though.
Not far from Soi Ari is the Suthisarn gogo strip. This is a Thai locals sort of a scene, but farang are welcome as well (just be polite!). To get there, turn left out of Soi Ari and go to the Saphan Kwai intersection. Turn left, and look on your right after about 500 metres. There will be a short strip of bars with flashing lights, and that's it. I have not been round there myself, but a mate did check it out perhaps a year ago. His report was that the girls were so-so, but the prices were low-low. I don't have any more details than that on Suthisarn gogo strip, but that is all I know of that is near Soi Ari.

Visiting - I forgot to mention that it has been said (but not personally verified) that the Suthisarn strip is the first stop in from upcountry for a lot of the girls that eventually move on to Nana or SC, once they have polished up on their English and other err....skills.
If you do make it over there, do post a trip report here. For sure Suthisarn is not a well researched area amongst the expats here.

Correction on the directions to the Suthisarn strip (sorry) :
Leaving Soi Ari on Phaholyothin, turn left towards Chatuchak. When you get to the lights at Saphan Kwai intersection (that would be Pradiphat Road), turn RIGHT (not left as I had posted earlier). Then look on your right in about 500 metres.

So no "working" field report here...just observations
I found myself in Phaholyothin today and decided to take walk and follow up on Tookay's advice on where things are at. Keep in mind this was late in the AM so I was not expecting much but rather to scout.
As he points out, there is the Suthisarn gogo strip which has about a dozen or so clubs, karaoke and hotels. I walked from the Ari station but would advise a cab. While certainly not the Ritz, this seems like there could be a lot of potential for the right people.
Everything was closed but did manage to get from one person that around 5 things start happening and 8 is a good time. Not surprisingly I was the only farang to be seen in the 'hood and did get a few odd stares.
I get the sense that tookay is correct that most are farang friendly however I think you would have much more fun if you spoke basic thai or went with someone that spoke thai. This will make it much better to maneauver around the area, get to know the deals at the establishments and so on.
I will be back in LOS at the end of the month and will try to arrange a proper night recon to the area but like I said, I think this has potential to be a lot of fun and some variation to the Suk scene.

Thanks for the update Visiting. Yes, my friend who had visited the Suthisarn strip did say that some basic working knowledge of Thai would be a help, since the girls working there all seemed to be rather fresh outa Khorat (or some such place).
It's almost the end of the month and you may have already done your evening research of the strip, but if not, drop me a PM if you don't have anyone to pop a Singha with over in Suthisarn. Having driven by several times during the day when nothing was going on, I have sort of been looking for an excuse to get over there and see what's up for myself.

Just to let you know, if you do a search on this Forum you can find a thread or two about this Suttisan (saphan kwai) area in much more detail as several of the BTF members have done a little partying up that way.
Check out those posts and let us know any recent info if you pay a visit up there.
