Have been yesterday at "Lava Club".New place situated in Khaosan road. The entrance is free, place is nice designed, farang DJ played house and deep house tracks. Crowd is mostly backpackers but some freelancers+TG was spoted. Also I surprised to find two of my Katoey friends inside. Good place to visit if you looking for something different.
After 2am we got to underground club, Thai style disco, no farang at all (it was me and some English guy). Place is operating till 5AM+Lots of TG stunners, I think it's an best place for freebies. I wont publish the name for known reasons. If someone interested to know more just send me PM.

while you are hanging out in khao san also check out 'the club'. 99% mid to upmarket Thais but also some farang. actually totally wrong place in a backpacker area but that seems to be the secret about it. Wasn't there for about 4 months though but liked the place because of the crowd. this place is on three storeys with several bars and a restaurant, nice atrium for sitting.
It is amazing how khao san around is attracting a different crwod these days and changing a lot its image!

griffin you know from some reasons normal TG think Kaosan road is cool.I dont like the place,but it's easy for hunting.

I also do not like it, but i do agree with you that a lot of uni and better educated thai girls tend to hang out there to improve their english or to get to meet some so called 'cool' farang'. For me khao san road is rather amusing and funny once in a while!
