Where's a good place to have a nightime business meeting over a few beers? Someplace slightly respectable, but also with bit of shall we say, local flavor (girls, but not a go-go place). I used to hang at Renoir early for that type of thing, but this particular meeting is at 8:30pm so too late for there.
It should be a place that isn't too loud. Sukhumvit area is best.
Any suggestions?

Hey brother Z, a good place to meet that has more of a gentleman's club type of flavor is Charlies Angels at Clinton Plaza. The inside is absolutely beautiful, it has an upper loft that's nice and cozy, and even though it is technically a gogo bar the ladies always dance with their clothes on. I don't think you would be disappointed. However with the new owners of the property trying to shut down the businesses in Clinton Plaza by putting up barracades and gates I'm not really sure how accessable Clinton Plaza is at the moment. It's a shame because Charlies Angels really is a nice, friendly place. Peace

why not try the upmarket clubs like club orbit on soi 26 or forte on soi 24. they can get slightly loud but alos have quiet corners. you have music, girls, food, booze and a nice environment there!

I'd say it depends entirely on the nature of the business that the meeting concerns and the age, nationality, and other details of the business associates, clients, or whatever joining the meeting.
A noisy bar or club will preclude much discussion, hostesses will preclude any focus of attention on business.
Are your associates/clients western or Asian? Asians may well be insulted if you propose a sleazy venue.
In short you haven't given us enough information to render a decent opinion.
But in general I think a cocktain lounge, restaurant or private meeting room (from where you can call for drinks) makes a lot more sense than a GG bar or a club.
Now, if you want to treat your clients/whatever to some action after the meeting, that's another story. But again, where are they from? A member club might be indicated, that's the sort of place Asians will expect to be taken. That's what member clubs are for.
You will need to know enough about your contacts before you can begin to set this sort of thing up correctly.

4z, try Huntsman Pub at the basement of LandMark. It is great up till about 8 pm, before the band starts playing. There is beer and food. I have had lots of business meetings there. After that, we normally adjourn to Nana Plaza for a bit of fun.

sorry for lack of information CJ.
I will be meeting with two business partners who are both american. one has been to thailand before a couple of times, the other hasn't. It is an informal meeting. We do need to talk, but it isn't the type of meeting where we're looking at documents or anything. Just a chat before another meeting the next day. So, some place decent, where we can talk, but also a place that let's these guys know they are in BKK as they are only there for one night.. (of course I'll be there much longer :-)

Try Neil's Tavern (Soi Ruamrudee, around the corner from US Embassy) for the best steaks in town and when you are done, you are halfway between Nana and Patpong.

And BK's suggestion of the c***sman's Pub at Landmark (my longtime suggested name change) is also perfectly sound. The beef isn't quite up to Nei's, but a righteous job of trenchermanship at Neil's will leave you all more or less useless for much else for at least several hours.
You could of course order heavy, eat light, and take doggy bags out with you.

The Ambassador has an open lounge area .. doesn't have the girl factor, but there are some cute hostesses who serve the drinks.. there is the passing parade of guests there too ..
It is right by the entrance from the "mall" area off Sukhumvit...
I have used this as a place to take 'regular' thai girls when I first meet them .. later in the evening they have some live music, but it is not so loud that you can't talk ...
