Hi Guys,
Im visiting Chiang Mai for the first time in the coming months and wanting a bit of advice.
Thoughts on Down Town Inn Hotel (loy Kroh Road)? Girl Friendly? Good area for clubs?
Where could a young buck like myself meet some lovely local ladies (ie: Uni gals) in the night scene? (actually any scene) I speak very little Thai..only fudamental greetings.
Any ideas?

There is a nice Gardens high up in the hills.
The Night Market is pretty good.
Don't know the bar scene as I was spoken for at the time. Great old steam loco outside the railway station.

OK Skippy; When you goin/comin? Anyway, I plan to go north into Laos through Chaing Mai, and wanted to take the train. Have asked previously in the forum, and got mixed replys regarding travel up from BKK and into Laos through Chaing Mai. Any comments or suggestions? But also want to experience the Chaing Mai area as well, if only for a day or two.

Will be there for about a week from Aug 10th. I looked at the train option too...and also the bus but 12 hours compared to 1 or 2 just didn't compare...so plane it is.
If it is overnight you will see stuff all countryside anyway. When you goin?

I will be in BKK on 1 June 2003, then going to Chaing Mai, then on to Laos. I want to go then to Viet Nam, and through Cambodia, then back to Thailand. Anyone looking for a nice interesting trip? I am currently going at it alone, but would enjoy a travel partner. Will probably not fly, but go by train, boat, and whatever other transport I can figure out. Have done a couple of trips into Cambodia previously.

did that trip in may. went from Chiang Mai to chiang rai. Then to chiang kong. did two days on a boat to luang bapang` flew to Vietenne. and to siam reap.
lovely country and will be going to Vietenne in November.
