All the regulars at TMP were characters. When I told them I was heading to Vientiane for a couple of days, they made me promise to bring back several large bottles of Beer Lao. Of course, I obliged - - bottles clinking all the way back to TMP.

There's a large daily crossborder trade in groceries and sundries in both directions across the Frendship Bridge. 2000 Lao people a day cross, go to the market and return heavily laden. And Thais can cross without a visa, just an ID card, into Vientiene province only, for max 3 days.
So, I'm surprised no one is bringing in Beer Lao at least informally, so TMO wouldn't have had to depend on you!!
Beer Lao as of a few months ago is part of the liquor empire of Dr Charoen, same as Kloster, Chang, Amarit, and Carlsburg beers, plus 100% of hard liquor in Thailand.

Nong Khai.....lot of BG in BKK are from this city.....
Quiet, that's for sure, but it's very easy to hook up with some nice girl.....could also be a BKK BG taking a break in her hometown (I had this kind of experience..)...few guest houses...2 "international" hotels....some action in the town near the Mekong River....a number of pubs & karaoke...most of the girls working there are well available for extras......one of the few places in Isaan where it's easy to find white skinned girls.....
Then, if Nong Khai is not enough, you could always head to Udon Thani where the action is guarantee 100%!

Provided that lots of the cute ones in Nong Khai are the very same you meet in every given bar in Bangkok, English is not the real issue! Then of course, there are all the other "normal" girls that speak only Thai/Lao...yet, Nong Khai is a very popular destination for people on visa run or on the way to Lao so lot of people in Nong Khai speak a decent English....

hi ya all,
