Samui is boring IMHO.
I like it... only difference I find is that the Food in the South is Too sweet compared to Bkk... why do they have to add Sugar everywhere?

Liked Lamai better than Chaweng, Chaweng bars too much spread out, the gogo-bars soso, many many decent young farang and package holiday makers on Chaweng (nutting wrong with that, but I guess I'm a sucker for Pattaya sleaze...  )... the stunners I found in Lamai had a bit of an attitude problem tho... fortunately I didn't have to resort to the SH HJ... as an attitutude problem can be countered by f*ck (and pay) them them silly, and kick out before breakfast... BKK for real fun tho.

A lot of people seem to have a downer on Samui.
My experiences, (5 times in the past 3 years) have all been positive.
I always stay in Lamai. Beautiful beach with no hassle. Bars are low stress. Lots of live Football (soccer to you americans who don't know what football is). Most importantly beautiful girls.
I never LT. Not my scene. However, I am pleased to say I have never taken back less than a 7. Usually 8-9. Last night, last time, a fully certified 10.
It's probably not to everyones taste. LB's are prevalent. Not been there yet, but never say never.
Just chill, forget about your aircon, DVD players & Cable. You never know, the other stuff might not be too bad!

I stayed in Lamai for 11 nights in February and I think it's an OK sort of place, I never even went to chaweng at night.
The Weekender resort is good, GF, different quality rooms depending how much you want to pay, right on the beach and in the middle of town.
Lamai has around 60 beer bars, the only 9/10s I saw were the Ladyboys at the cabaret place just down from McDonalds.
I found after about 7 nights the Techno got on my nerves, very difficult to find a quiet spot.
The best entertainment is Saturday night fight night around the beer bars opposite McDonalds, even bar girls fighting, free admission but drinks are about 100 baht.
I will be going again in February and hope to pull in a trip to the Full Moon party, probably take a TG.
If you are a BigButterfly you will soon be spotted by the TGs, it's that sort of place, they don't miss a thing.

I can't believe you guys who say Samui is boring & some of your ratings on the girls. We were there in April for 5 days, and I can tell you there was an abundance of talent. Before getting to Samui, we planned to go down to Lamai (we stayed on Chaweng beach strip) but never got further than 200 yards of The Green Mango & its surroundings. No problem finding good quality sorts, and by about 1am, if you stil haven't found your babe, venture down to the SOLO Bar, its packed with girls.
For the size of the place (Samui) I should think it would be hard not to find something to your liking as there are loads of girls. Will be there in November again, so will be able to share my experience again, but this time, will definitely be checking out Lamai.

I was last in Samui in June 2004 and found the beer bar scene in Chaweng OK.... if you looked hard enough you could find yourself an 8, but you wouldnt want to leave it until too late into the night... the girls were quite sweet and more interesting than the gogo girls of BKK.
Some questions about Samui....
- what is the closing time for beer bars and discos these days. (2 years ago it was 1am which is a bit of a bummer for a party town)
- what is the current bar fine at a beer bar?
- never played down at lamai.... if we were to stay in North Chaweng and travel down to lamai - how long would that take at night? Is it a bad idea to bring a BG from lamai to Chaweng?

Heck ! outta BKK **** star's goes down, as to Phuket and Samui's P4P overall average per surroundings.
Beautys can be found, but we have no time like the present in our wanderings.
Pattaya rankings compaired to BKK ? thats in other threads. Just as other Thailand areas.
During high tourist season the Issan Army takes over most popular places. You have to wander off those places to get to locals or nicer beauties. Low season the Issan Army moves and locals come blossoming out.
Hell most fine assed Thai chicks work real day jobs or go to the uni. One ride on the BTS around BKK uni's you will see some exotic mixed Thai/Chinese/Indian/Malay stunners AKA 10s by face and body. #1 future wife and damm fine too.
