The star inn hotel is near the night bazaar and is guest friendly. It is off the main street about a block and down an alley. It's clean and the food is good. Paid 800 baht the first nite and renegotiated to about 700 baht for future nites. A hotel that I liked better (it's about a 10 minute walk from the night bazaar but closer to the bars, is the Montri Hotel. Nice and clean and guest friendly. Cost 500 baht. Very good restraunt next door. Going back in Oct and going to stay at Montri.

went to chiang mai last weekend with friends and here are very short reports...will elaborate further if interested....
1. visited Pandora's massage parlour (since whorist.com have favourably mentioned the place) but
the rooms not that nice as expected - need some refurbishing. Papasan asking for Baht 1,800/- and bargained for Baht 1,500/- since we are 4 persons, finally agreeing at Baht 1,600/- problem is not all of them can do the sabai dee (pattaya) full service. some girls do soapy - some not, papasan will advise who is good at what (about 30 girls age range 18-25). model girls price, sitting beside the fish bowl is Baht 2,000/- and very pretty. you will see the difference with fishbowl girls. they usually arrive about 7-8:00pm (about 8 girls) but only 2 when we came there early at about 6:00pm
2. not satisfied with Pandora's our driver took us to another massage parlour in front of chiang mai university (forgot the name though) better selection of girls in terms of beauty. Charged us Baht 1,800/- but we did not bargain since we think its fair. nice place with karaoke/pub just beside, and traditional thai massage upstairs - Baht 300 for exclusive room (2 hrs.)
3. Went to Star Xix (not sure whether name correct) on the second floor and paid Baht 100/- entrance (with one free drink) - agogo theme w/ mixture of taiwanese/japanese looking customers. took girl at Baht 2,000/- ST including Bar Fine (plus 2 condoms handed by the manager before leaving the premises with the girl). girls lighter skinned and IMO better looking than their bangkok counterparts.
4. Driver took us to some discreet places where there are some guys guarding the front doors. we came in, sat at the sofa and girls paraded (wearing outfits similar to thaniya girls in silom). price Baht 1500/- LT and can take to hotel room. About 20 girls beauty rate 5-8. papasan not pushy - if you don't want then free to go out and the girls return back inside.

yes BK, i checked out that site before going to chiang mai. unfortunately, my friends were also on a business trip - meaning we can only venture into the nightlife after 5:00pm - for 2 nights only, so there's not much time to study the routes and everything was fully relied upon the driver - just made our judgement whether the prices for girls were acceptable to us or not. the informations at whorist.com will certainly help if we stay longer though.

IMO, it will be a little hard to identify those places if you don't have someone to bring you over, or spend some time in chiang mai to develop contacts. they appear to be ordinary houses on the outside. inside it looks ordinary too, with one long sofa and table. then after 5 minutes the girls, in evening gown attire, will come and stand there in front about 1.2 meters from you to choose from. the papasan will sit in the corner of the sofa and wait without being pushy

Hello I would be going on the second week of jan2003. Could anyone tells me about the best place to go with less hasel. I would like to keep one girl for 2 days. Is it posiable? I don't know the hotel you're staying at but if you go to the Montri hotel (it's about $12 per day) you are within 2-3 blocks of the bars and TG's. Hotel is nice and service is good and they do not care about the girls.

Spot on Casey, the Montri is very good value for money and it is close to the bar scene.
The Lotus Pang Suan Kaew Hotel is more expensive and away from the bar scene and a part of shopping complex.
This does not rule out that you could not have a great time with a nice girl at this hotel. She would probbably prefer this hotel over a more basic one.
