I was in Chiang Mai for Loy Kathrong last year. It was the most interesting even that I have ever been to in Thailand and an experience that I would have to catagorize it as 'magical'. Visit the parade down by the river, that was great, and they have stages set up for different interesting things. Just wandering around by the river area was just so much fun. The whole thing is completely fantastic I would not even bother with a rent-a-chick. There is always the next day.

I'm with you Bob 5h. It's true you have to keep your eyes open for errant fireworks sent your way either intentionally or un, but my last time in CM at LK were two of the most amazing nights in Thailand ever. It's Mardi Gras and the 4th of July on steroids, and everyone in town turns out.
The kom loy (fire balloons) lighting the sky by the hundreds are beyond description.

Well I visited Chiang Mai again from 24th to 28th of November, it should have been until the 30th but I decided that I had seen enough and moved to Sleeze by the Sea.
In CM I stayed at Lai Thai on Kotchasarn Road, decent location about 750 per night, adequate but a little too noisy for me, especially with all the fire works going off.
The Loy Katoey  parade was wonderful, and definitely worth seeing.
I visited Enjoy massage close to the hotel, I had a foot massage but the girls looked very enthusiastic for other massage services.
First night I paid bar for a lady at a beer bar on Loi Kroh, her name was Ronseal, she did exactly what you would expect from an Isaan lady.
Sunday night I went to Hot Shot, a lady called Nib, age 31 with no children tagged on to me, she was pretty Mau by the time we left but I saw her the next night as well.
The final night I paid the bar for a nice looking girl from Jamming Delights on the corner of Loh Kroh, I detected a starfish as the evening progressed and after reaching Spicey I left her to her own devices.
I did not bother with Spotlight or Foxey Lady, the CEC was similarlary uninspiring.
Best place without doubt for a falang breakfast is the Laughing Leprachaurn on Moon Muang road, half way between Loy Kroh and Thapae.
I had flown from Don Mueang on Nok air but the best flight back for me was Thai air to suvarnabhumi, I booked business class but was surprised at the deal I got. It cost about 3500 but that included lounge access and instead of a beat up A300 we had a 747, I was upstairs in the bubble with a lay flat bed and VIP service, plus baggage priority at BKK, not cheap but a very good deal if you go on the jumbo.
I thin that next year I will give Chiang Mai a miss.

your last sentence is good advice, the place is such a waste of time, especially concerning p4p, the massage girls right near the Lai Thai are anxious to provide other services, problem is they are just so damn 'not hot', nice pool at Lai Thai, yawn, I'm feeling bored out of my mind just typing this CMX comment, good luck if you go trying to do something as simple as breathing, the air pollution worse than BKK, good choice Gus, you can do better

Been in Changers a week. Decent service at CM Hills Hotel MP with my usual pick, the svelte N*s. 1200 baht falang price still.
Also reasonable treatment at Sayuri when there were finally enough girls there. Both times previously I'd gone early afternoon to find 20 males (mostly Thai) loitering, letching, smoking and laughing at 4 or 5 ladies of which none to one were remotely appealing.
Third time lucky early evening was shock. It was Xmas eve and the fishbowl was packed with girls in Xmas dresses; red with white fluffy bits.
I picked a mature (ish) lady in her 30s, good bone structure and slender. She was very soft, had a full hairy mary and a bit loose but let me come twice nudging into her bush while wanking me off. Left a neat little pool of goo near her navel which she was quite complimentary about. That was about the highlight.
Sayuri took 1000 baht off me and other Falangs. Didn't see what the locals or Japs (!) were charged.
Both places I confidently offered 1000 baht, as in years gone by I'd gone up and they'd said 1800 baht up front. And kept straight faces the bstrds.

1,000 is the Thai price @ Sayuri.
Farangs (read Tourists) are usually charged 2,000 (depending on how stupid they look) and Japs are charged 2,500 to 3,000.
that's for the Regular Girls. then you have the B, M, S, SS
B = Body massage Girls
M = Models
S = Superstars
SS = Super Superstars

Hmmm.... of course, you could behave like a local, use your few phrases of Thai, and know exactly what you want, and then;
1150 is the falang price for regular girls
1150 is the falang price for B girls
1400 is the falang price for B girls + B-Course
Higher charges are likely to apply if you are obviously a Tourist and don't know what to ask for, because you are automatically given the B-Course opton, plus a VIP Room and if you arrived in a Taxi / tuktuk then the commission surcharge is also applied. Its not a case of a rip-of being applied, its a case of giving you the best on offer because you can probably afford it, and are too dumb to ask for a regular room etc.
I've lived in CM for a while, and I've found the papasan's at Sayuri to be pretty decent guys, who recognise repeat clients, and take care of them. (The 100 baht tip helps

a respitory doctor, something to puke in if you go to SpotLight or the BB's (mercifully your bringing your G/F so you won't have to suffer that ordeal) the departure lounge at airport, seriously, your hotel can arrange a one day elephant ride, river raft ride & snake show, there's a large temple on a mountain top, good food at the Riverfront, I'm getting ready to dose off now
