Strangely enough, I am beginning to notice the odd girl with maybe a hint of 'Chinese' running through her vein's. They still retain the Thai look's overall.
ISK, I should have taken your advice. Yesterday while looking around town, I found some ideal country & western gear, so last night I went to the Grand Hotel in the hope of doing some 'boot scooting square dance stuff'.
On the head was a Hoss Cartwright (Bonanza) 10 gallon white hat, check shirt, Wrangler jean's, black Tony Lama cowboy boot's and a large Montana Silversmith bronc buckle. I parked 'Trigger' up to the hitchin rail outside and strolled into the 2nd floor fiasco.
As I entered the 2nd floor room, I started to sing the Gene Autry song, "I'm an ol cowhand from the Rio Grande".
Walked in and no C & W, demoralised and shattered. WTF is going on here. Karaoke singing only bar, maybe 20 people present and no ladies. Trot upstair's to the 9th floor and just the same, but the people here had all the kid's with them, typical family scene and this was a Friday night.
Skip, the disco is finished, no more, kaput, deceased, maybe never to be seen again. The 2nd floor venue is at the top of the stair's from the lobby.
I hooked up with a couple of the waitresses and when they finished at 1.30am we went to the 'Hollywood' disco in the underground section of the Tip Hotel on the highway just up from Tesco Lotus complex on the same side of the road.
The disco was full of young Thais, maybe 2-300 jiving away to hip hop music. So if you are a young bloke and not wearing C & W gear, you could meet some of the good looking ladies at this place and disco closes officially at 2am but linger's on till about 2.30.
Around the back of the Grand Hotel in a soi that run's parallel with the Highway are a lot of little shanty type hut's. The tuk tuk driver took me there in the early evening to have a look at the girl's. Most of the talent are Lao girl's and a sprinkling of Thai, ranging from 18 to 25yo, although a couple may have been under the 18 mark. I was not interested at all in the young-un's and the older one's, well they were not that brilliant at all, so I gave them all a miss. No matter how desperate you may be to get rid of a load, one look at this line-up of girl's, you decide very quickly it is simply not worth the effort IMO.

Issanking put me onto this place, so if you are in NK check it out.
Go along Prajak Rd (main street in NK) heading sort of west. About the centre of town there is a Esso petrol station on the left and about another 200 yds on the right is another fuel station. It used to be Shell but now operates without a name.
Nearly opposite the 'Shell', there is a Dr's surgery and to the right of the surgery is a small soi that runs towards the Mekhong river. Over the front of the soi is an archway. Go into the soi around 8pm and later and on the R.H.S. on the corner is a brothel, you will see all the girls milling around. I went there around 6pm but was too early. The girls said 600b 1 hr massage and sex and when the 3 toothed mammasan came out she said, 500b for 30 mins. There were around 10 girls mostly Lao and reasonable lookers.
Twenty yards further down the soi on the left is another 2 or 3 brothels and the same amount, but only a few girls there. If you just want to blow the bolt, it is OK. Just be carefull of the ages, maybe some of the girls there are around 16-18yo.

Are the border crossing 24/7? If not,what is the earliest you can enter Laos ? Also what can I expect at the border when returning to LOS ? Thank you.

I am not sure what is the earliest or if it is 24/7. Between midday and 1pm, the Lao passport people stick to a routine of lunch and no paperwork or very little is done, avoid this time. At a guess I would say if you arrived around 9am, it would be open.
Coming into LOS, it was very smooth sailing, maybe 5 mins on Laos side and the same on the LOS side. Depends if there are a lot of people ahead of you. Make sure you have a few 20B notes with you for the bus and departure tax from Laos, tax I think was 2500 kip (8 or 9TB). Bus and taxi back into Nong Khai was around 40-50 all up.

1. So I have to pay the 31 dollors only once going into Laos right? And pay nothing returning to LOS right?
2. Good chance I will be traveling with a Thai girl to Laos
do you guys see any negetive side to this?
3. Where do most upper class Laosian peole like to hang out at?
4. Best mall or shopping area in town?
