Great place to eat, Good/everything. The owner has gone above and beyond to make food amazingly interesting. Order a fruit shake and check out the deserts. Presentation suitable for any gourmet magazine. In addition, the food is good.
I stayed at Napaolai, it was soso Disco was all locals.
Very slim pickings on p4p last month when my buddy and I were there. Soi Falang gets your hopes up with the 20+ bars there but nobody available but the girls behind the bar. The is a gogo bar with some talant (wolverine?) I recommend only looking. Barfine hefty and on 2 occassions girls were sent packing early due to poor attitude. It was a strike out there!! pass!

Trying this again!!
Any current happenings in Udon Thani??
Normal visit:
- Mambo Disco and Beer Bar, Napalai Hotel.
- Go-Go across the Charoensri Grand/Shopping Ctr.
- Outside beer bars down the road and to the right
for CG shopping ctr. Quiet beer (normally
only 2- 3 girls at each bar, definitely don't
remember seeing any stunners).
- Downtown Massage (legit) Parlor.
- MK in the CG Shopping Ctr.
Soapy joints there (what I remember) had limited selections, and pricing similar to BKK........girls no English skills and they didn't look happy in the fishbowl. Models (stretch) seated on the left side of the lounge area, only 4-5 were available at 8 P.M. and none were worth the 1600-1800 baht. Papasan did the usual pushing, but wasn't that agressive.
Shopping was cheap (clothes), Go-Go had some talent........but as previously posted they were a little snobbish so didn't partake (don't remember the pricing, but with only 2-3 establishments in town I can see it being fairly expensive even by BKK standards.

Lots of friendly regulars and a really good atmosphere.
Good place to go.

Next time your up this way Scrog, a very cold Beerlao awaits your tastebuds. I have been told the Darkbeer is great, the Irish love it.
XPC and myself will have to dine on coffee and tea, maybe I can knock up some scones.

In Udon Thani, staying at the Ban Chiang Hotel. Hotel fine, only 1300 baht a night.........only problem they only had a room with 2 single beds.
Drove to Udon from Pattaya, 12 hour drive with stops in Korat (lake, temples and toilet stops). Had a decent steak in Korat, was surprised that Korat had a cattle ranch.
Driver 2000 baht per day for 9 days, paying for food, gas and lodging separately. There are 3 of us, so splitting the price it's a decent deal. Will ditch the driver in Chang Mai and fly back, can't handle being on the road for that long again.
Haven't checked out any nightlife in Udon yet, does look like the bars across from the mall have changed names and design. Did see a older lady escorting 2 young ladies into the hotel at 1AM, both were good looking (7 on the looks scale). Did hit Mambo, no entry fee and beers were cheap (110-120.00). Band was just "OK" and female dancers / singers were good looking, they do need to practice their dance routines.
Mosquitos everywhere, getting eaten alive as I type!!!

Did the family Karaoke bit last night at the Ban Chiang Hotel, it was way more expensive than I though.
350 baht per hour.
1 bottle of JW Black.
Beers and Food
6,200 baht
14 guests
Did the same thing a years back at another hotel here and it only cost 3,800 baht. Can't remember the hotel name but complex had a massage parlor on the bottom floor.

Barrafish is now my official hero in Udorn.
My wife and daughter were in Udorn today looking for a stove with an oven for the Thai kitchen.
My wife called me from Home Pro and said the only thing they had was 42,000 baht. After recovering from the seizure, I called Barrafish from Saudi, told him my plight and he took it from there.
He directed her to a local place where she got exactly what she was looking for at a little more reasonable price of 6,000 Baht. Three burner top and a gas oven to burn cookies and cakes in.
I owe you big time when I return, Barra. Drinks and food on me.
