Guys, can anyone tell me if the ocean around Hua Hin is clear water and a good place to enjoy some long days swimming there abouts?
Are there any reefs nearby? Coral? Clarity?
PS. How long does the "newbie" cling last?

The water is fairly clear around Hua Hin. There are several large hotels in town. Lots of tourist.
However, on your way from Bangkok to Hua Hin, there's a little town called Chi Am. When I was there last time, there weve very few people, and the water was very clean. It was just nice and quiet. Not a bad place to go for swim.

Water quality is pretty nice. No rubbish on the shore and mainly the Hotels got their private beaches. You can swim and dive freely and safe. I was at the Marriott few weeks ago and thir beach was nice....

Foodlover- Thanks for the tip on Chi Am. Quiet works well for me. Would I then be best to bring my on GF or could arrangements be made there? And what would the travel time be from Nana area to Chi Am?
Pinga-Thanks as well. Do you have a travel time between Nana and Hua Hin?

The times I've been at Hua Hin I made the trip by a private car from Siam Square. Once you get the express way it was almot 3h trip to Hua Hin. Going fast, very fast....but expect a bit more maybe for a bus trip. Hope this helps.

Bangkok to Chi Am is about 2.5 hour by car. You should bring a lady with you from Bangkok. I don't think you will find too many working ladies in Chi Am.

Hmm I forgot. There is also a flight available from Bangkok to Hua Hin. Let me check....it is by PG (Bangkok Airways). Apparently they always leave Bangkok once a day at 08:40 hrs. The flight is 35 minutes long and approx B/.2,500 cost (roundtrip). The plane departs Hua Hin to Bangkok around 19:20 hrs.
....and by bus you should use the terminal at PinkLao I think....Dunno the price. Cheers!!
