Hi, does anyone have any suggestions for this? I went with one company last May with my ferang gf and it was really good, but had to book online, and this month i'm going to phuket with a friend and we arent sure when we'll wanna go fishing, so does anyone know of any good, reliable companies that we can just book a day in advance or not book at all? Thanks a lot to anyone that has any info.
The company i went with cost 2000 baht each for a whole day including food and everything needed, we even got to take the fish to the hotel for them to cook it

was on a 6 days safari same time las year, but poor results from trolling and jigglings in the Adaman Sea!! however great boat and expericenced crew!! they do conduct day trips as well!! this guy has a fleet of 11 boats, shouldn't be a problem!
try "popping" near the rifts and drop, very good results with GTs!!
now, gotta search where did i kept the name card!! will keep u posted ASAP! happy fishing!!

Thanks a lot, glad to see i'm not the only one here into fishing I've heard this is more the high season for decent fish? (Marlin, giant trevally etc...) In May i went out for a day trip and only got 3 dolphin fish, a really nice eating cod of some sort and a few various species like a couple of gar fish and other crap. Hoping to get hold of a nice marlin or a real game fish.
I'll be awaiting your suggestion for this charter thanks again

yup, glad to see someone into the same sport! yes, this is the begining of the high season, chances of catching a sailfish is higher than a marlin. havn't heard of any boats hooking up a marlin for a while. u can check with the local operaters how was the results of the Annual Billfish Tournament in Nov. may i suggest u use medium light tackle (20 - 30 lbs), it would be more fun!! and u must target the GTs, it s a tug-of-war with these giants (8 - 20 kgs)

I'd love to hook up with a sailfish but most of all a GT... I've only ever caught Australian Trevally before and those little bastards fight for their size so i can't imagine what something around the 15 Kilogram mark would feel like! Last time i went on a charter in Phuket we were using relatively light gear, around 25-35 pound line i think and a couple of light rods.
That would be great arranging a trip with a few of the guys here... I'll be in Phuket with a friend from Dec 16th - 23rd. I'll warn you though, beer and sea fishing don't mix for me. Last time i did that there was a little more berlei than we were counting on hehe. So the drinking can wait for the celebration time!
