I've searched through the area but have not found a whole lot of information. I will be back in September and plan to take my lady friend to Krabi (her choice since she has never been there) for a weekend. Does anyone have any suggestions for a nice romantic place to stay, restaurants, activities etc.
Any information is more than I have now and would be appreciated !
Thanks in advance.

At Krabi I always stay at Krabi Resort .
Thats at the Ao Naang beach. Look for the seaside bungalows.

Krabi is a great spot.  I always stay at The Queens bay Pavillion which rocks.  It has  three tier swimming pool, HUGE balconies with Two seater Teak swing chair, fab bedroom and bathrooms, and views to kill for.  Best Rate I can get in Sept is 2950 with 2 nights free for every 6 stayed (works oput at 2350 per night for 8 as they charge a small amount for breakfast on free days)

Was in Krabi December last year. Stayed at Pavilion Queen ’s Bay.  It was high season and I paid full price, about 5000 bath a night. Pavillion Queen If you can get it for halve the price like kev29ie says I would certainly go for it. kev29ie described the hotel very well and I agree with him. Dinner in the hotel is pricy and not that special; better go to the boulevard and pick one of many restaurants that are out there.

The boulevard is pretty busy at night with tourist looking for a restaurant or shopping for fake goods. There is an international atmosphere and you might as well be on the beach in a southern European city. Only the tuk tuks on the street remind you that you are actually in Thailand. Oh yes, and then there is this bus with a megaphone on top that drives up and down, trying to get you to the Thai Boxing Stadium. Not that I could understand a word, but there were boxing banners all over the bus.

The P4p scene isn’t that noticeable here. I saw one location on the boulevard. There was this small alley between the shops and in the back I could spot some bars and girls sitting there. I couldn’t investigate the area because I was with my wife and she pulled me away from it.

The beach isn’t worth mentioning. It’s a pebble beach and you won’t find anybody sun tanning on the beach. You will find a lot of water taxis there that will take you to one of the many small Islands in the area. There are also many organized tours that will take you island hopping, snorkelling, canoeing, beach BBQ etc. A very popular sport here is mountain climbing; you might give that a try too.

Cheers
