Hi All,
Firstly a quick intro: I am a Kiwi who has lived in Chiang Mai for the past 6 years and am married to a Look-Krung (English/Thai).
I am happy to contribute as much as I can on the various activities one can get up to in Chiang Mai….will post a couple and if more are wanted then I am happy to keep posting. Would also be happy to meet with anyone coming up for a stay in the north.
Firstly Chiang Mai is nothing like BKK…no NEP…no Cowboy…no 33…and defiantly no Patpong. So don’t arrive here and expect to hear “lub u long time” echoing in your head all night. Having said that Chiang Mai does offer large amounts of fun if you know where and how to find it.
First post will go over the mainstays of the Chiang Mai “nightlife”.
A Go Go Bars: There are two of note:
Spotlite: The most “famous” A Go Go Bar in Chiang Mai, situated on the moat near Thapae gate. In Spotlite you will find a long round bar and to sit drink and fall off the stupidly high chairs, and a raised dance floor al la most bars in Cowboy. The drinks are reasonably priced and they have 24 hour sport on the several TV’s dotted around the bar (A good place to go to watch the 11 month a year, round ball game some call football) The girls here are mainly from Issan (see they are everywhere) and Chiang Rai, a few Chiang Mai girls here also. There is a mixture of 3’s to 8’s here, and the staff seems to change quite often. The mamsan, or should I say mamakathoey here is extremely helpful and will usually direct you to the girl who can perform any particular requests, and she will also tell you honestly if she cant fulfill your wishes!! BF here are 300 before midnight and 150 after. A hit and miss place…sometimes you will find a gem….sometimes its on to the next bar.
Star XIX: This A Go Go is mainly frequented by Thais or Koreans and is located near the Imperial Hotel in a soi off Loy Kroh Road. There is a 100 baht charge to enter and this gives you a free drink from the very limited selection of Chang, Sang Som or Chang. Note: do not have a Tuk Tuk drop you off here as 100 goes to 250 very quickly. Star XIX is a very seedy dark place with a stage and a shower tank. The girls here are from Chiang Mai, Chiand Rai and you guessed it Issan. The bar opens about 11 and from then till 2 you will see various women dancing on the stage, shower shows, balloon popping, and a fire show. You sit in very dark corners and will be immediately accosted by the mamakathoey, who will bring over the girls and grab your hand and shove it down their g strings (assuming this is to prove that they are not Kathoeys???). The girls range between 1’s and 7’s. I have had some excellent nights here as it is more a party place than Spotlite and the girls get goodly and drunk…but I have also had some nightmares. Its worth a look when its late and you are drunk…but don’t expect too much.

I was in Chiang Mai around march and had a look in Spotlight. At the time there was a couple of 8's in there, maybe I visited on a good night. 
If I make it up there again, I'd love to catch up for a beer.

barfine at spotlight is 500 baht and girls there expect bkk prices. loy kroh i liked better girls seemed to be cheaper and nicer. another gogo is across the moat no stunners there and many katoeys think it's called country road. a couple fishbowls in chiang mai too had some fun there too nice selection . not like bkk or pattaya but yall knew that. ciao

the fishbowls are not inside the moat anywhere. Don't know about th Ban Sabai hotel. are you a motorbike renter if so don't stay anywhere near the night bazaar it's annoying as all f_cking hell if you have to walk by that shit everyday. also go to hua tin tau it's a local resevoir dinner with standard thai amenities ( thai whisky, fresh fish and canopies) also go to the free waterfall halfway up doi suthep on the left (the one on the right is 200 baht and there are no fun thai people to drink with) go swimming and ride the rock slide. feel free to go do bo sang umbrella's or elephant show stuff if you want. don't know about trekking. next i will post on sleaze but jes ramblin

Chiang Mai for a week, all I can say is 'what a rollercoaster ride'. I cannot believe the ups and downs in this place, had a great time, but geeez it ferks with your head, well mine at least.

i will have to defer to cm on daytime action because all the daytime action i haD IN CHIANG mai was leftovers from the night before you might try getting phone numbers at night. YOu know make appointments for the three o clock quickie. I never saw much open in the daytime.
suggestions for chiang mai would be stay away from the gogos spotlight has some decent women country road is dismal star 11 or 19 depending on the sign you see should never really be visited. stairway to heaven upstairs is probably the best gogo type scene the girls are encouraged by the farang owner to strip onstage for 1-200 baht i spent a couple good nights in there with an israeli friend who was paying the girls to do all sorts of silly things even halfhearted lesbian kissing. the owners girl at the time was real hot and you could even take her out provided you did not know the owner too bad for me.
i found loy kroh had the best selection of women although i am hoping their has been siginficant turnover by the time i return i got a bad name (not because i deserved it) after two and a half months in chaing mai
the bars along the night bazaar were not bad but the women were less profesional.
the night clubs are bubbles and the place with tin foil along the moat for thai and falangs g-spot is hopping too but i saw less falangs over their neither one felt like a real pickup spot to me but hey i was their with a gf, a thai one which makes it worse, eyes like hawks i tell you
