Unfortunately, not only Pattaya is suffering from more crime, recent events in Udonthani illustrate that foreigners are not only the victim's of indiscriminate violence, a case in point being Mr. Tong's bar opposite Robinson's in the town centre where several Thai's have been beaten, farang's bottled, mugged and attacked in and around the place by the staff and their buddies.
However, there are plenty of other bars, clubs and disco's that are more than friendly to all... Enjoy such Farang meeting points as Steve's bar, Harry's bar for local gen, good food etc. Udon cafe and a host of others for local fun and games and mambo's disco that throbs most nights of the week.
Upcountry travellers beware and stay safe.

Been to the Mambo Disco while staying at the hotel where it is located (wow, can't remember the hotels name).
Of course I was with my TGF and seemed like it wasn't a place you could just pick-up a girl. There were only a hand full of farangs there, looked like a place where the locals spent their time just socializing with friends or people they worked with. Place was empty at 1000, but got packed by 1130. Rocked until 2 AM.
I did like the bar area (round bar) where the girls would get up on the bar and dance.
Drink prices were high, Barcadi Cooler (120 baht), no entrance fee though.

The hotel if memory serves me well is the Udon hotel, about 5-10 minutes from the centre of town - Tuk Tuk's respond to Go Mambo; please.
Yep, takes a bit of work to find your catch but plenty of young snatch and eye candy to make the trip worthwhile, nice surroundings and good live acts and great place to takeyour GF.
Definitely not a beer hounds haunt but great place to make friends and have good time, best ploy make friends and meet them for lunch or candy the next day.

Depends what you define as a Tuk Tuk... My definition is 'a three wheeled buggy and I use Tuk Tuk as a generic description,' but I agree the transportation is different from say Bangkok and is more motorcycle orientated with a cab fitted on the back, so what would you call them?

Three wheeled conveyance it is.
You may want to take one to the Bamboo bar (open late), ST x 60 minutes plus includes room and girl for 500ish tokens, plus porno action on TV, shower, reasonably clean little Chalet type place motel.
Girls rate 6-8 but can be a bit inexperienced, so knowing what you has to be said and agreed upfront before take-off.
Not to difficult to find ask a conveyance driver.

So where's this Bamboo bar?
I should mention that I was in Steve's a short time ago (no pun intended) and it's a decent place. Drinks are cheap, it's clean, they've got food which I didn't try (Brit food, Thai and burgers), and some of the girls are hot. I don't know if they are available for take-out or not. It's just around the corner from Robinson's Dept. Store.

Where is the Bamboo bar...
Ok, a bit hard to explain but here goes, come out of Steve's turn right and head down to the traffic lights, turn right and proceed to the next junction/traffic light, go staight across and carry on for 300-500 metres on the left hand side of road, there is a small fork in the road (just a little Soi going off to your left), you are either past or before the 7-11 can't remember), continue down the fork for say 200 metres and the Bamboo bar is on the corner (looks like a restaurant and is made of bamboo, behind it is the motel for the ST).
Yep, been in Steve's bar and the food is very good, the girls are basically servers (best to investigate your choice beforehand to avoid embarrassment). I also believe Steve's bar rents car and motorcycles at reasonable rates (no plug, just info).

They do so advertise to rent those 2- and 4-wheeled conveyances, but I didn't inquire of their tariff. No doubt you've met the charming Miss Fon; what a hot piece she is, too.
No hope of ever following those directions... Sorry.
