Looking at this place for R&R. I have the impression from their Web page that the resort is nice but somewhat off the beaten track. Looking for the possibility to dine (fish) outside the resort also, not get confined to it. Anyone experienced it? Non need GoGo Bars -will stay with the Missuss

I stayed there last year. Hotel is nice but far away from any nightlife or daytime activity so I would recommend a car to get around.
Most of the guests at the hotel were European and it wasn't busy during the weekdays I stayed. Hotel food was so-so and we generally ate away from the hotel.
Found a very good dining place in a hotel called "Hin Suay Nam Sai" (or something like that I think) a few kms away from Novotel. It is on a hill overlooking a very small bay and some kind of a public park. Food was great and the scenery was unbeatable.
If all you are looking for is a few days of quiet R&R, I would recommend it. If you want more adventure, would suggest avoiding it.

Fair Question,
maybe I am wrong but I thought if we want to do some looksee, looksee during the day we are allready on the mainland and not dependent on that ferry back and forth.
Dont want to read a book on the beach all day and as far as sex is concerned, in the night is enough.
Wrong approach to location? Any better suggestion instead of Novotel, like Canary hotel or Cabana?

Samed (Samet) is not really for a daytrip, it has bungalows, hotels, beaches, great beachfront restaurants, boat trips, etc. and is far more interesting, in my opinion. Depending on the beach you stay, you will find between 25-65% falang.
Here are the three FRs I have written about my times there, you might get a feeling about the place from the FRs. I don't wnat to sound like the head of their tourist office  but I would not hesitate to bring a wife or girlfriend - my own or someone elses  - there, whether they are falang of Thai. It is NOT boring (as in "nothing to do"), but there is no p4p there. Even Tyler probably couldn't get laid there unless he brought a take-along!

I would really recommend Samed Villa on Ao Phao. Walking to all the restaurants, but on a quiet beach. Excellent rooms, veranda overlooking the sea, fridge, a/c, etc. 1600-1800 baht. The info I have is: Samed Villa, - Ao Phai Beach, Tel: (01) 2390223, (01) 4948090 Fax: (01) 2390223

thanks. I have looked at Sai Kaew Veach Resort on the net. Any good, any comparisons with Samed Villa? I plan to book whilst in BKK - 90 Hrs till touch down!
