Will be in BKK for two weeks but want to take a break down to the sea for a few days. Both of these are sort of equal travelling distance from BKK. Which is better?? Looking to kick back and relax during the day but looking for a bit of night time action. Should I take my own TG with me ??

they are both quiet really, so its best to take a gal with you.
or you could pick upa gal in pattaya and go on from there.
personally I prefer ko samet.

i have never been to cha am, but ko samet is one of my favourite islands. take a girl from pattaya with you, the selection is very small.

Do a search on the "Elsewhere in Thailand" section (this one) for Cha am and "Samed" and you will find all the info you need to make a decision.

Samed is definitely a place for a bring-your-own.

Or you can fly cheap down to Phuket and get beach and nightlife.
