I've been offered a free weekend at this place. It looks like some kind of luxury spa retreat, and the chalets all come complete with private swimming pool and outside spa area.
But according to the maps, it's about 20 mins south of Hua Hin. Has anyone been there?
I'm thinking of hiring a car and taking one of the tirac's for a treat.

It's in Pranburi, lost in nomanland!
Could be a nice hotel and it is indeed....not up to a deluxe 5 stars, but a solid resort....Spa treatments should be at the best...but quite pricy....beach is a no-no, actually there is no beach...nice swimming pool...all natural deco, good staff, food is ok, go for the villa with pool.....
It's good if you bring your own car cuz there is nuffin around!

Evason is nice place, There is a beach, but very narrow. The hotel could arrange private dinner on the beach which is quiet nice. The pool villa is not as nice as other hotel (e.g. banyan tree, trisara etc...) Caronte is right, It is middle of nowhere. You definitely need a car to get around.

been there, very nice and recommendable! the drive down to hua hin is not so bad about 20 min in a car! only problem is that it is a bit hard to find when you arrive in the night! great villas!

Nice place for lunch in the Pavillion besides the swiming pool,
the FRENCH FRIES are great.
Good place to take a chick for LT, nothing to do but play...

As this has been resurrected, I should add to it because the following posts confuse it.
There are TWO Evasons in Pranburi. There is the 4 star hotel which I think most are talking about in this thread..it is the one on the beach with a large pool etc. I had a look at this place and agree it's nothing special, a bit old and dated.
There is also the Evason Hideaway which was absolutely stunning. As you drive down the Evason driveaway, you turn right for the hotel, turn left for the Evason Hideaway.
Individual bungalows. some as big as three bedroom. All with individual gardens and all with private swimming pools, complete with outdoor sitting areas. One night we drove back from Hua Hin and someone had come in and lit night candles around the pool. it was too good to resist.
It's hideously expensive. I think the basic rate is around US$500 a night for one of the smaller chalets that I was in.... and I would never have afforded it if I wasnt getting a freebie.
BUT, if you're looking for somewhere really special (honeymoon, maybe), i'd recommend this place.
but again, don't confuse it with the Evason hotel. Same same, but very different.

if you a are good negotiator you should be able to get them down to thb 10,000 per night for a villa at low season! absolutely worth that price!
