Can somebody advise of the aprox time to drive from Hua Hin to Krabi? I have never been in Thailand and do not even know if it is worth to try to drive myself. What do you think?
Hua Hin to Krabi will take you about 4 to 5 hours depending on how fast you drive. Longer if you do the scenic route. The main highway is dual carriageway most of the way. I drove from Bkk to Songkhla about a year and a half ago and there was about a 2 hour stretch in there somewhere where the road was single lane. However I do not remember if that stretch was before Krabi or after. Also they were working on the highway, so it is probably less than 2 hours now. The drive from Bkk to Songkhla took 12 hours, but was pretty much straight driving. Driving in Thailand is different, you need to be constantly aware of all of the other traffic -
DO NOT EXPECT ALL VEHICLES TO FOLLOW THE RULES OF THE ROAD - IN SHORT BEWARE!
In general you will be ok and you will enjoy yourself.
