Nat,
I stayed at Sabai Mansion near the beach in June 05 and really liked this place. Be warned, maybe not too many girls there at that time of year, or they may start to arrive for Farang season soon afterwards.
Look under Hotel Issues, 'Sabai Mansion at Krabi' for my report. Do not know what the price will be in Oct but send them an email.

Stayed at Krabi Beach Resort in one of the Deluxe Sea View Bungalows (located about 20m from the beach).
Very nice and very quiet (May 2003).
