I will be in Koh Samui in September. Would like to stay at Lamai beach this time. Chaweng is not bad, I like the reggae pub, but I'd like to test other beaches.
Can anyone give a recommendation of a hotel at Lamai beach:
G/F
price range up to 1000 baht
quiet, clean but not too far from neither the action nor the beach?

Try Lamai Inn 99. Close to the action, right on the beach. Ask for a bungalow on the beach if you like but I prefer the new rooms that overlook the pool. Not sure about prices that time of year but never really expensive.

The prices seem to have gone up since I last stayed, the Galaxy resort has doubled in price. Anyone know what Green Villa is like?

I stayed at the Sand and Sea resort which is just a 10 min walk to the center of Lamai. Very nice and friendly staff. I had a beachfront bunglow that included breakfast for 1200B. I would stay there again on my next Samui trip

Thanks for the tips. I have thought about trying the Lamai Inn or the Utopia (www.utopia-samui.com).
They are a bit cheaper than the sandsea resort. However, someone said the the Lamai Inn would be too noisy.
BTW, where's the best action in Lamai? In Chaweng I preferred the reggae pub whereas Green Mango is too loud for me. You cannot understand a word or even listen to the music which comes in all styles from all directions. Is there something relaxed like reggae pub in Lamai?

Just stayed at the Lamai Wanta (July). A new complex in the middle of town on the beach. It also has a great swimming pool next to the beach. Their regular rooms are 950 Baht. The bungalow was fantastic at 1600 Baht.

Read this carefully as I shall only write it once.
Stay at the Weekender resort, Lamai, totally GF, on the beach and right in the middle of town.
They have a web site if you do a google, ask for 'Ken' for best deals.
I have no interest in this place other than staying there twice and will stay again in February.
There are more girls in Lamai than you can handle but not many 9s.
