Although I never saw the need to pay an extra THB 700 for an organized visa run tour, I also joined one of these tours last Saturday.
As I don't like the feeling of being cramped in a small van, I decided to give Jackgolf.com a try. Instead of a van, this travel agency uses a double decker VIP bus for the same price (2000 baht) as those companies using a van.
The bus leaves at 5.30am (there is also a 7.00am departure) from Suk Soi 12. Simply give your passport when entering the bus and a staff will come to your seat personally to collect 5 signatures on the usual forms. They will take care of filling in the rest of the papers.
The bus is equipped with a large (60? inch) screen where DVDs are shown on (we had three movies) and wide comfortable seats. You receive a free soft drink and a bottle of water.
On weekdays this tour visits the border at Poi Pet. However, on weekends and holidays (when Poi Pet gets really crowded) Jack Golf goes to Ban Laem, near Poi Pet.
We arrived at 10.00 am at Ban Laem. Ban Laem is nothing compared to the horrors of Poi Pet. Only the members of our tour (around 12 people) were the ones to 'process'. We received a buffet lunch at Ban Laem in the local casino and were on our way back to Bangkok at 11:00 am.
Dropoff in Bangkok (3 pm) was at MRT Petchburi (and stops also at Asoke BTS and Rama III).
The service is quick and courteous. Recommended!

Agree with you Dr, recommend this company.
I did the 7am trip last Thursday. A word of caution. I was dropped off outside the 7/11 on the corner of Suk Rd & Soi 12. Got off the taxi bike and immediately approached by a Thai man in white shirt and tie and he said, "Visa run Cambodia". I said "Yes"
I started to walk down soi 12 and saw a mini bus and thought something wrong here. I walked back to Suk Rd and saw the Jacks Golf people in a proper uniform, nearly got caught by the other white shirt and tie man. So just be cautious when you arrive that you are not whisked away by some other mob.
Tour coach was good. Watched 4 movies, fed in the casino over the border which was a buffet lunch, bought duty free smokes, 200B carton and some after shave. Great value.

I can confirm this is a very good service. I have use them before and I will not hesitate to use them again.
Just have to watch out for the other crowd...
