Hi All,
Not sure if its me but the board seems very quiet these days. !?
I have been lurking on the WSG. Its OK but there seems to be a lot of flaming and arguements and the guys seem a little more hard hearted about the girls than the guys on BTF but thats just my perception.
I am planning on going to LOS in March 2006. I want to spend a few days in BKK and at least a week or longer in either Samui or Phuket.
I want to stay in a nice girl friendly hotel below 2000 baht, lots of available girls, nice restaurants nice beach etc.
Yes I know that both islands have these but which one has the edge ?
I have been to Samui 3 times but did not indulge in the mongering scene ( apart from a visit to one of the massage places when a v newbie - not worth a report ). Usually stayed there a few days before getting to KPG. or I was with ( non mongering ) people.
Last year was my first time in Phuket and it was great. Nice hotel near beach guest friendly lots of available ladies etc.
I know its been asked before ! So only if you can be arsed !
Given the choice of either ( not both ) Samui or Phuket which would you choose and why ?

I've only been to each island once and to my mind Phuket definitely has the edge, especially if mongering is high on your list of priorities.
I went to Samui last year and left after 3 days as I wasn't impressed. The p4p scene was very disappointing after getting there from BKK and the quality of the girls working there struck me as pretty dire. What little of the island I saw seemed ok but I've got no plans to go back.
Visited Phuket for the first time in October, stayed for 4 days and wished I'd had time to stay for longer. Plenty going on and I was quite impressed by the quality of girls, it was a lot better than I was expecting. I've already booked my flights for a week back there in Feb.

Do both islands. Heck how close are they by plane ? Chaweng Beach and Patong Beach are what a half hour away by plane. Many places to stay and scenes to enjoy.
As to the P4P. Stay out of the go go's and troll the bb's.
Many ladies in regular sales related shops to get to know. All sweeter than P4P's too.
But by large the P4P scene ladies arent the best, get out early and be prepared for drunk brats that quote ya high. Seasons change and so do the influx of girls.
Try to find island Malay looking ones. Chang Mi shop girls can be found and will date ya too.

This is good advice. And I think last time I looked, the price of a USM-HKT then a HKT-BKK ticket are about the same price, or less, as a one-way USM-BKK, so it won't cost you anymore to do HKT too, in addition to Samui. You can head to HKT when you get bored at Chaweng.
Lots, lots, lots more choices of girls at Phuket. Prices of girls are probably lower on average, too.

Phuket is back to normal, or at least will be once the effect of the visitors of the poor lost souls last year depart, bit of a funny atmos right now as these folk are here to grieve.
For example:
My mate was in a bar in Karon the other night and was told by a grieving lady that she is not here for the same reasons as he is (she doesn't know he lives here with his family and just assumed he was a sex tourist) she is mourning here sisters lost kids, terrible for her, and embarrassing for him, but they will all be gone in a week or so.
Apart from that it is full up as usual, drunken ne'er do wells all over the streets and hookers plying their trade and asking for more and more.

In Lamai beach there are about 60 beer bars, quality not the best but you can find some decent girls.
Patong, not been but I believe better than Lamai.
I think hotels are a little cheaper in Lamai than Patong, probably girls are too, Lamai 500ST 1000LT.
Check out Bangkok airways, plenty of flights between the two, possibly not too much baht either.

I used to live and work in thailand and had a house in Phuket and flew to samui once a month on business. (I sold wine to all the resorts)
Each has their advantages and its only like 1000baht to fly from one place to another. I would sugggest fly to phuket for 3 or 4 days and spend 1000naht and fly to samui for 3 or 4 days and then pay 1000baht (maybe a bit more now) and fly from samui back to bangkok.
I love ko chang the best, but it might be too quiet for your purposes. The airport in samui is worth 1000baht, its like that old american show fantasy island.

Hi Guys,
Thanks for all of your replies and perspectives so far.
I have now bought my ticket for BKK for March 2006.
I know that they are a short plane flight away from each other but for a number of reasons ( time being one ) I want to split the holiday between BKK and one resort.
I guess I am erring towards Phuket. That was my initial choice anyway. I was interested to find out if anyone actually preferred Samui.
It seems to me that when people actually express a preference between the two it is usually for Phuket...

I like what you are saying and would like to take this route ( ie non or PT P4P girls ) as much as possible on this next trip.
Last year I hung around the main strip in Patong where all the open air bars and big Discos. Will likely do similar this year but also looking for something a bit more laid back for a few nights.
Any recommendations for bars where I could meet semi pro / regular Thai women interested in Farang in Phuket will be gratefully recieved but I will also re RTFF !

hey man,
if you hit phuket, rent a car (dont pay more than 700 baht a day) and check out Kata Beach, its the best on phuket.
Check out Laguna bar in Nai Harn, it is open until sun up, and you can pull 6 or 7 girl for 1000 baht long time,
