Dearest Brothers,
I searched the forum high and low and came up empty handed for prior experiences in Chumphon and Ranong- both along the southern isthmus of Thailand. Surely some among us have ventured there to tag 'n release the local pu ying. What notes from those adventures would be worth passing along here? 
I'm taking the train down Friday for a bit of fun in the sun and plan to spend a little over a week exploring the vicinity between the two locales. I would like to go in armed with at least a bit of prior regional intelligence. 
Anyone? If not, I'll come back and fill in some of the highlights later... 
[Note: Ranong is not to be confused with eastern seaboard's Rayong]

I took a package tour on my own to the Chumphon Cabana Dive Resort in 2002 or 2003...in those days the airport at Chumphon was open and Air Andaman was part of the deal. I met only one other farang in the four days I was there (a Dutch guy who lived in Phuket) and saw only two others in the town of Chumphon. The beach resort I stayed at was at Thung Wua Laen Beach about 15 minutes from the town. Worth a visit if you like SCUBA but the beach itself was average http://www.chumphoncabana.com/
In Chumphon there is a beer bar called the Farang Bar (play on words - "farang baa") you might want to try out. I can't remember the location or name of the nearby massage parlour we visited but it was huge "face" for the girls to be the ones picked by the only farangs they'd seen in a while. Fish bowl had about 10 girls and the place was for Thais but happy to have anyone.
Overall impression - nice place, everything was cheap and no double pricing that I noticed but at that time well away from the farang tourist routes. Got stopped by the local police for no motor-cycle helmet and got let go with a warning!!! Went and bought a helmet cause I figured the place was small enough for the cop to hear if the farang had not heeded the warning.
You will not have a problem finding a girl - got "chatted up" by roadside vendors, hair-dressers, shop girls etc. My Thai was very basic in those days but enough. Enjoy.

Thanks for the post- that was very informative. I've been a t the Cabana Resort for three nights now. Easily the hardest beds I've ever experienced, other than that the place has a lot going for it. Being twelve kilometers away from the town keeps everything very low-key and laid back there.
Chumphon town seems quite quaint. So far, the closest I've come to a 'scene' here is one confirmed short-time hotel. LOL
I go to Ranong in one day. Hopefully, both the Internet & puu ying access will be better there. I would love to be able and leave some tracks worth following here.

Jackpot! Bingo! Found it!  Chumphon's giving up her treasures after all, brothers!
Not two half-day forays into this town and I turned up a soapy venue and a TTM shop, both replete with FB's The TTM shop is very reminiscent of the Petch Siam venue in BKK. Gonna be some farang fun soon. 
Yesiree bros, Skip hit the jackpot! I tell you brothers- I think I deserve a Monger Scout badge for this field trip. LOL Time to head out to the trophy shop, BK.... 
Seriously, this was some great fun! Between my last post and this one I had a great leisurely chat with the soapy manager. I waltzed into the joint about 4:45ish. Which apparently was after they'd opened the front doors, but before the first gal had shown up to work. Gave the manager and me ample time to shoot the breeze.
Had a second delightful conversation with one of his starlets who figures to be in his Bt1700 per soapy price bracket. The others were Bt 1300 and Bt 1500.
I booked a room at his hotel for the 8th and 9th. After I do Ranong I'll be back for two days of exploring the city itself.
Oh man! I can't wait! I am so grateful for the Thai language skills acquired thus far! It really manifests itself in these rural town experiences.

LOL- sorry!  I been on the road a bit lately. Went from Ranong, back to Chumphon, BKK 3 days and then on to Luang Prabang. I'll be back in BKK tonight, for a week or so, and will try and write the FR then.

I stayed in Chumpon town for 2 nights after coming back from Koh Tao for diving trip last year.
The small central areas have a few establishments to offer. I stayed in Paradorn Inn. About 450-500 bahts for a accepatble room.
Near the only one shopping center called Ocean, there is a pick up karaoke. About 20 girls and you pay 1500 bahts and the girl will go ST with you to your hotel. I got a girl from here.
There are 2 discos also nearby. Many freenlancers. Also they want 1500 bahts for ST. Also got a girl from the disco for 1500 the second night.
I and my friend also spent last afternoon hiring a tuk tuk to explore some lady houses. There were quite a few lady houses at the outskirts of town. About 10 girls per house and mostly avearge looking. But also a few gems hidden somewhere. I was able to find a gem after looking hard. I think she was Myanmar girl but lied she is Thai. 500 bahts per 30 min in-house and I extended to have 3 continued sessions and pound the little cutie so hard that I feel bad and gave her a good tip.
