Any intel on doing a 1 day trip to visit the casino at the Thai-Cambo border??
What I have so far:
2000 baht one-way to border by rented car, not willing to do the 6 hour bus ride.
Remember it being 20.00 plus 2 passport photos to get into Cambodia.
Only a 5 minute walk from the border to the casino.
1200 baht a night to stay at the casino hotel.
Casino has blackjack, sic-bo, roullette and slot machines and games/chips in baht.
If I remember right, border opens at 8AM and closes at 6PM.
Any girls working the casino?? Assuming there has to be a few, just wondering are the easily identified!! Last thing I need is to offend a upper class Thai. Also, assuming prices could be relatively expensive.

It's been a couple of years since I've been there, but there are 7 casinos on the border at Poipet.
The main game is baccarat. When I was there there was a bt100 minimum bet, and a bt1k max bet. This might have changed.
For bt3k you can get a taxi roundtrip.
In the Diamond Casino I didn't see any working girls, but I never checked out the bar. Just go into Poipet, and the bars are full of them.

7 casinos?!?!?!
Catering more or less exclusively to Thais, or to people coming across from Thailand, I assume?
This is the kind of situation where it would behoove Thailand to create 'special administrative regions within 1-2 miles of the borders where a casino exists on the other side, where casinos, gambling, and 24 hours of open bars are allowed -- that way, the money lost to Cambodia, etc would remain in Thailand. My $0.02.

Good point Daffy and that's essentially what Cambodia is doing, luring in that comparatively strong Thai baht by putting the casinos close to the border. I wouldnt be surprised to learn that their are Thai hands in these casinos using Camboida as their "special zone."
Mosquito - sounds like a fun trip actually, hope you go and enjoy it and don't bring too much money to lose. The only detail I'd confirm is the baht. The US dollar is the currency in Phnom Penh and Siem Reap.

hi KAKUKA,,, A guy I met on Koh Kong told me it was 200 ST on the brothels of Poipet, He'd just come from there. This 3yrs ago. Sorry no specific info.
Take precation--it is very dirty.

Ever thought about the casino bus? THB 300 return, including lunch.
Leaves 4:00 am from Suan Lum, arrives at 7:00 am at the border and leaves for Bangkok at noon or 7:00 pm.
The visa fee is THB 1000 (you can exchange baht for dollars and pay in dollars, but they delay your visa processing.
I guess there's about 10 or so casino's now.
