All depends on what you are looking for in a vacation...
Sightseeing,culture,5 star hotels then go to Bali where you wil also meet some female company if you are alone.
If you want cheap beer,cheap hotels and plenty of available women at a good price price,go to Batam,30 minutes from Singapore by ferry,I recommend the Seruni Hotel and Sugar Pub,full of girls.
Of course,you can go to Bali and stay economy also,but in Bali you can see "the real thing"if you are into culture.
Batam is for guys who read this forum

Guys.......you're all educated on Indonesia. Myself, I've been there a few dozen times. Seems you all have missed what I have had. Bandung. That's the city to go to. Like when someone talks about Thailand, its always about Bangkok. So, the next time u guys are down there, take time off from Bali and visit Bandung - a 3 hour train ride from Jakarta and a city amongst the countains. Need more info ? U know well whom to buzz.......
