I lived in CA for 23 years, LA and San Deigo. The weather is fantastic, but it is extremely expensive. I would say that you need a min $100K a year to confortablely survive. >$250/yr to live good and 500K/yr to live like you can in BKK.
I moved lock, stock and barrel to BKK last year and love it, execept for the weather and driving, but I will take the trade-off.
CA will solve its problems, but you really need to be rich to enjoy the proper CA lifestyle.

If you're coming up this way, grab a copy of the local paper, The Metro. It's full of ads in the back. I find the best stuff here is Chinese, usually work out of apartments, $60 to house, $100 to lady. Usually really good service. Some of the Vietnamese shops here do full service, but the massage tables are a little small for comfort. The ladies working in the apartments have real beds. Of course, since I am happily "pan fried, sunny side up by my TGF, " this is only anecdotal info, hehehehe... 
Speaking of my TGF, and my partner in crime, Khun Jeu Yai, he had to bug out of the RT early because he was going to be taking my TGF out to a music show later that night. He knows her pretty well, as he was with me the first night I met her. After he found out what he missed at Privilege Restaurant while escorting my TGF, my email inbox was not a happy sight! The sacrifices made by fellow Punters!

Have to agree with you about CA. The cost of living here has risen all out of proportion to any sensical standard, and with the crash in the Silicon Valley, it's looking pretty pointless to be up here. In fact, I may dump my house in January and relocate to someplace more affordable. Irony is, one would make less money elsewhere in the country, but enjoy a higher standard of living and saving. If that happens, I'll probably take a 90 day hiatus to LOS.

Damn, that's funny - after reading some of my travelogues (private FRs, essentially), and hearing me talk about Thailand, I have roughly 5 additional guys that want to fly back with me next time I go.
It's like a damn netwrok marketing scheme - I think all those politicos talking about how 'our kind' doesn't contribute should visit this site and read anecdotal evidence someday.
So, on my next trip, even my nephew and niece want to tag along, right along with 3 other co-workers. Thailand should pay commission :-0 (of course, you can bet that I'll slap all of their tickets on my frquent flyer card - just found out China Airlines has a nice one)

reminds me of that morning in carson, when the guy picked me up at the hotel and brought me to this breakfast place near the beach "you know they have steak, eggs, and real potatos".
I still have to laugh sometimes...

I just saw at the airport that they are driving them around in golfcarts, they have special lounges and much more. is the million baht per year?? well, okay, I should probably google that

RTB You are confusing the PM's Privilege Card (1 M THB) for VIP and the Privilege Membership card from the club price TBD. I am working with them to put a program together. I will let everyone know the details once they are firmed up. Damn I think I finally found my hobby. I think I can sell more Privilege Club cards than Thailand's VIP Card.
Re the beds, most AMP's have high tables with a mattress pad on top. If you fall off of one of those you will break a hip or something. Some just have futons on the floor.

Go to the San Gabriel Valley, pick up the free newspaper or buy the local one, then just call the numbers and go to the aprtment. I haven't been over there for a couple years, but they had some nice girls over there, mostly chinese.
Massage parlours in the city of LA suck. Some of the outlying cities are better. I was in Inglewood and there was some nice looking girls, Koreans.
Then there is always Oxnard.....

Awh an oldie, but a goodie. Me three years later since my posts above still living and loving in Thailand. Privilege is no more and in fact one of the girls there was able to marry a BTF member.
Well I never go to CA massage joints anymore. Not enough value for the money. All said and done it can end costing $200.00 to $250.00 for one hour. Instead I use that money to buy new sex toys to bring back to Thailand and have fun with my TGF.
Oxnard??? you my as well book a flight to Thailand.
