Would have to look closer at the term 'deviant', by asking another question: Has longstanding influences of society and religion taken normal male tendencies to polygamy and convinced us that polygamy is deviant? And in doing so foisted on us an illusion that monogamy is the norm?
Has more recent BKK acculturation placed the issue more clearly on the table, causing us to to reevaluate the reality of monogomy as a norm?
At any rate, a simple answer is: Yes! Yes! Yes!

I don't think the combination of LOS & P4P is making us incapable of sustaining a normal relationship....and normal based on which values? Let's not forget that this is LOS and a relationship is quite different than in Wes...
Fine, there are the guys that are not able to commit cuz they don't really want it but at the end, it's all a matter of meeting the right one....
If you are not a guy lost in NEP level, than it ain't no easy to find out a good TG that can click with you....I believe that coming from Western countries, we do have different expectations when we look for a partner, a serious one....
I guess the day you meet a good TG with the right mix of Western and Thai values, the you'll be served!

Regarding the above, not at all - normal relationships, begin, last a bit, and end. It just happens a bit quicker in LOS, and there's less pretend - so, IMO, it's a LOT more normal.

Having giving it some additional thought....
My FR was a bit of a cop out on the basis that I didnt define deviant or what a normal relationship was (if there is such a thing).
I think Smegma got closest to what I really think. He said that as you get older you find it more difficult to fall in love. I am not really sure that is the case - I think that years of screwing around in Bangkok makes it more difficult to fall in love.
I can see that in a couple of ways - first it is evident from the posts here that many older guys come here and fall in love very easily (so it isnt age per se). Secondly, many newbies point out that the longer term residents have a cynical and hardened view of TGs/BGs - a comment it is hard to argue with.
So permanently screwing around in Thailand may not turn you into a deviant but it certainly blunts your ability to fall in love. I am sure that this applies to BGs too.
Time for another beer and a decent shag....

I would think that falling in love too easily would be more problemantic than not falling in love. Having second thoughts and not getting lost in the relationship on day one is not a bad thing. It's normal and healthy. So maybe you're a little paranoid and/or perhaps just a bit self consious. So what? Either it will work out or it won't. Nothing we say here is likely to impact that. Just go with the flow and don't over-analyze it too much. Enjoy what you have while you have it. At least that's my opinion.
