Japan is a funny country.. to my "westerners", who had previously lived in a multi racial and cultural socieities (ie most), Japan is an enigma.
it must be a comple shock to see only yellow faces for te first time; it was for me in 2001 coming from multi- cultural London.
With Japan. some atitudes have not changed since 1945; most haven't changed since 1840. Blatant racism is rift; nationalist vans patrol suburban strets, but in fairness, fear (ie in respect of physical violence) is not there.
