A good way to see the Angkor temples is by bicycle (they can be hired). The land is quite flat, distances between the most popular ones isn't too great and there are plenty of shady spots to stop for a cold drink.

From what I've read, it sounds like 6 or 7 days in Penom Peng should be enough to see the sights and nightlife. How many days would I need in Saem Reap to fully explore the nightlife? One hotel I might stay at is town view hotel in Penom Peng. Anyone have experience at this place? Thanks.

A week in PP is more than enough for any sites there. Could see it all in one day if you start early. Nitelife time depends on you.
SR: if into the temple thing then get 3 day pass and explore at your leisure. If not really into it then 1-2 days is enough.

I don't believe my eyes. Angkor by bicycle?!? Only those who absolutely despise air-con would even consider it. The heat in Cambodia is vicious!
Nah! This advise is not good.... I spent three days in a hired car with a kick-ass guide and driver. It was a fantastic experience. We covered a lot of ground and way more time exploring each complex than any other groups going through.
What made it so great was the time spent in and around the complexes. If I'd spent three days trying to get to all I saw via bicycle I wouldn't have seen even a third of what I did. And I woulda come out of it feeling like a piece of jerky....
Stick to bikes around town. Period.
