Talking of gays............well, my mate (travel partner) almost flipped over one of the numerous banci/waria (transsexual).........heading on to Stadium from Crowne Plaza (the hotel where RETRO is located). It was his first trip to Indonesia and the way he flipped over banis was amazing..............said he found them cuter than the regular GG's (genetic Girls), but would give it a miss..........

Embassy is in Taman Ria Complex, Senayan.
Just ask your taxi/driver to go to "Pulau Dua restaurant" it is a famous seafood restaurant in the same complex, then walk to Embassy.

singlenstr8 or other veterans of Jakarta...
I'm trying to narrow down a Block M hotel and I've been looking at Melawai. But they don't have a website or any e-mail contact infor that I can find. On another board the best I've gotten is a phone number. I've also heard though that the hotel is kind of in rough shape.
Can anyone suggest a better Block M hotel right around there that might be in better shape and have a website with e-mail contact?
Yes I'm trying to be budget concious about the hotel so I have more money to play with!

In case, u haven't booked your hotel already, while moving from the immigration in Jktto the conveyor belts...........you can see a counter for hotel reservations. Take up Hotel Golden. Its 30$ a nite, a bit more or less.
If travelling is not a hassle, take the train from Gambir Station (10 mins drive from Golden) to Bandung. The ticket is about 70,000 Rp. In Bandung, Take a cab to Hotel PERDANA WISATA (Downtown area - lots of MPs and nite joints). Or if you prefer a more peaceful hotel, go Hotel Cipaku Indah (spelt CHIPAKU). Both the hotels are 20-30$ range with breakfast. And good hotels too. North Sea Cafe at Jalan braga is a good joint for pick ups, so is Planet (Near hotel perdana Wisata). Do not pay more than 150,000 Rp.

Good tips single, and thanks for getting back to me...
I am still investigating which area I want for my hotel...
Heard a lot about Block M and I'm sure that's a pretty good area for a newibe, but the only hotels that I know about there are Ambhahra that seems a bit pricey for me and Melawai I and II both of which seem a bit dingy from reports along with the fact that I can not contact them by e-mail?
To be in another part of the city hotel wise (Mercure Resko maybe!) and away from Block M makes me a little uneasy because I really want to have some action within walking distance...
From exchanging e-mails with some brothers, it sounds like the combination of Pasaraya Mall, the clubs near by, and Melawai 6th floor make Block M a pretty decent place to start.... So I'll probaby just bite the bullett and pay the bill at Ambhara, it does look nice!
If anyone has got any other hotel suggestion for Block M in the $40-60 price range I would be interested.
