Seems we all agree Indonesia is better for a GF experience. And that each one pays whatever he feels like and is comfy with. That settles the issue then.
As for 80,000 Rp being the going rate for a banci/bencong, thanks for the info, Koteka. Seems you are well versed with their going rates.........I am pretty sure tho that I had a GG not a TG.

Not to beat a dead horse. But one last comment on that 80,000.
I think this is probably the scenario:
Indonesian girl: 'mister, I'm shy to say this, but I need 80 for my school. Can you help me?'
**(80 actually meaning 80 US Dollars)**

The morning comes and the girl is handed 100,000 rupiah. She is too shy to ask for more because she is new at this and it is very embarassing for her. She accepts the money, gives a peck on the cheek then goes home and cries her eyes out.
Realizing that she has just spent 20,000 on taxi to get to tiga puluh, 20,000 to get home and 35,000 to buy an orange juice at the bar (they pressure the girls to buy at least one drink even if there is no cover charge) she sees that she has spent 75,000 and received only 100,000. Making a wopping profit of $3 US for the night. At that rate, she realizes she can never fullfill her dream of going to school. She will be lucky if she can budget the 25,000 on some bubur ayam for lunch at the warung pojok, a teh botol, a plate of gado gado for dinner and another teh botol. Not only can she not afford to go to school, she can't afford to buy soap to take a shower. She decides to never go to Tiga Puluh again and go back to her Kampoon where people aren't so cruel.
I would bet that is a fairly accurate story. maybe slightly exaggerated, but not much.
Please dont chase the girls away for the rest of us.

I agree with where you're coing from but I think you might be over-egging the pudding a bit there. I think if you empathised with the girls to that extent you might as well not bother.

Asian e, since you mentioned it, I have a couple of comments on the Hyatt. It used to have a bar called O'Reillys. They closed it for a while and re-did it. That same bar is now called Burgundy. It's not alot different from before except that more people go there now. Since the Hyatt is the most expensive hotel in town, the girls there will be looking to gauge you on price. That is not a place to find a sweet girl looking to make ends meet. It's a place to find a hard core girl who knows the ropes and is looking for big money.
You can find plenty of non-working girls there. But it's tough to get them to go home with you the first night you meet them. You usually have to take them to dinner or a movie at a later date before you can get lucky with those.
Burgundy is a bar that has no dance floor and has a Jazz band. The drinks are outrageous. I can honestly say that I have taken a few girls home from there. I gave them my standard 300-400,000 range. I have actually had a few of them try to ask me for money up front there. One asked for $200 USD! I just had to laugh. I offered her 10,000 rupiah which she of course refused (considering her drink cost her 70,000). I hate it when they ask up front like that.
I was sitting at the bar at BATS once and overheard a girl ask the guy sitting next to her for $200 USD to go up to his room. He said yes! Needless to say, it didn't take long for her to hustle him up the stairs.

Yes, have also wittnessed a few loud mouthed  who splash the cash around when the get into town - normally the Oil boys who have just got their one week off after wanking themselves and each other in the jungles or on the rigs.
Never liked O Reillys or any of the Hyatt hotel sceens in general. All Hyatts seen to run on the same policy of a cover /entry charge of about USD10 and then the same again USD9-10 per beer or basic spirt drink.

Pricey yes, but I did enjoy going to O'Reillys when I first move to JKt, circa 1996. I found the bar-staff very friendly and I love that cocktail they make with the crushed limes. The main reason I stopped going wasn't the price of the girls; after the Rp devalued there seemed to be a lot more working girls hanging out there and I found it quite intimidating to be sitting at the bar with somebody staring right at you every time you looked-up - like drinking in a goldfish bowl.
The one place I've never been to, for a number of reasons, is the Stadium disco - Hai Lai was scary enough for me. Though it has its own website now:
