Stayed at Penisula Hotel (Rp 200K/nite) in downtown Kota for one nite before putting up at pal's posh apartment somewhere off Jl Sudirman for the rest of 2 nights. Penisula is smack dab across Lokasari Plaza and less than 5 minutes Ojek distance to Jayakarta's Club 36, Mercure hotel + kartika, Berlian and numerous other sleazy establishments, not to mention Teria Ceria, Sierra, Oasis Spa etc. The rooms are, well! OK for about US $20 (didn't use it much as I was flexing my muscle elsewhere). Not a bad place to check out local underground scenes. Again, this hotel & area is definately NOT a place to be for Bule.

Aryaduta hotel is great. Downstairs is the tavern pub that always has fantastic live bands and plenty of girls looking to make a few extra rupiah.
Grand Mulia is extremely nice and has CJ's disco inside so it's easy to drop downstairs and pick up whatever type of lady you like.
Hotel Dharmawangsa is also very nice. The bar there caters to upscale indonesian working girls. You can get the cream of the crop in jakarta there, but you have to pay.
Four Seasons (Regent Hotel) is also top notch. Girl friendly, of course. I've only stayed there twice, but the second time I stayed there, the bellman asked me if I wanted ladies. I said "why not"? So he asked me to wait 15 minutes. About 15 minutes later, a van drove up that had 6 of the finest ladies I've seen in jakarta. I chose one to my liking and took her upstairs. I felt obligated to give the bellman a tip for that. I doubt I would have found one that nice out at the discos. She ended up spending 3 days with me. I wish I could find her again.

For the really nice girls, they cost me at least 500,000. I pay 250,000 to 300,000 for the Blok M girls from My Bar. (350,000 if they really make me happy.) But the top girls at the Dharma and other similar places are going to ask you for a million. You can negotiate from there. Alot of people say there is no difference between the girls you pay 200,000 and the girls you pay 800,000 in Jakarta. I dont know what girls they are talking about, but I find that not to be the case. You get what you pay for. Sometimes you can find a gem for a cheap price, but they will be kampoeng all the way. I'm not into a girl who stands on the toilet rim to take a piss. Then again, the more expensive girls can also be more of a pain in the ass, I admit that. They may be hotter and more sophisticated than the normal Blok M girls, but they know it.

Yes, 800 is steep for CJ's. But it depends. All types of girls go to CJ's. Normally, you can get a really nice one from there for about 500. But there are girls there who will take less than that. Alot of Blok M girls go there as well at times looking for a bigger payday. If you indicate to the girl that you know she is from blok m, her price will drop immediately. LOL.
There is a "circuit" in Jakarta. The girls roam from BATS to CJ's to Blok M to whereever. The circuit girls are hard core. I wont pay one of the "circuit regulars" 800k. But I live in Jakarta, so I know who the regulars are.
If I see a girl new on the scene who is extremely nice, I may be tempted to pay her that much if I think there is a chance of her becoming a "girlfriend". These are normally girls who just got dumped by their bule "providers". Once you get to the girlfriend stage, the 800k the first night drops to about 200k. But it usually takes about 5 - 10 times to get it to that stage. 800k the first time, then 500k a couple. then 400k, etc. It ends up being a bargain in the long run because you get one of the top girls in jakarta and you end up giving her very little money since you are a regular. But it seems you have to snag them with the big payday up front. If you are not in jakarta a long time, you might as well forget working that angle.
