Thanks scobie for the tip.... Any other places you would suggest to free lance... Would BATS be Ok?..... Unfortunately I have a very packed schedule.... Work from 8:00 - 8:00 PM... and cannot afford to waste time if you now what I mean.... have had great success with Free lance in BKK with Beer Garden and also Nana Disco !!! is it similar... do not want to over pay or under pay.... what would you suggest.....

Depends what you're looking for mate. And, of course, the time of day.
Any bar in any hotel with more than 4 stars is pretty good, but be aware that some nights in some bars are better than others. It always pays to go on the ladies night because the girls get in free. But any night will be good in the main hotel bars. You can't really fail.
If you're bored of the office girls who freelance in hotel bars, head to blok m - any cabbie knows it. Tell him you want to go to Top Gun, Oscars, Sportsman bar etc.. I think it's Jalan Petalan, but could be wrong. He'll know where to take you. Any of the girls in any of the bars there are freelancers and open to anything.
Around the corner from these bars (but still in blok m) is the Lintas Melawai disco.. don't go before 11pm. It really takes off from that point on. Again, ANY girl in there is available - believe me, I know!
And if that doesnt appeal, jump in a cab and head to a bar called JJ's.. It's next to the famous Tanamur Disco (which is wild but overrated andfull of katoey and druggies). JJ is much more relaxed scene and open until 4am. If you can't find a girl or three in there, give up and put a gun to your house.

Re my comments on Ladies Nights being the best time to go. Don't let that dictate your activities - frankly, every night is ladies night in most of the hotel bars 
If you're staying in any of the big hotels, it's like your room will have a copy of the Jakarta magazine (forget what it's called but it's the usual tourist crap). The good thing about it is that it has a bar directory which give you more of a low-down on where and when to go.

Are you sure JJ's is the place to go latenight? It seemed quite dead compared to from times past when I was there last year and had a lot of katoeys. Has it resurrected in the past year? I used to love going there, but it wasn't the same as before when I had gone, not even close.

What's the latest score on 30 (tigah puluh) ?
The last time I had posted on this forum was al;most 15 months back. I was anive enough to mention picking up a lovely gal from the joint for the nite and just ended up paying 80K - which the girl insisted was her school fee. Non pro. I think 80K should have been better referred to as "uang taxi".
Had a serious row on the issue with the Jack (ass) of all, master of none "Jktguy".
But then, that's history.......
Would appreciate any new updates from the brothas on the forum.

30 is still alright on thursday-saturday. albeit I also think your 80 k contibution was a little bit weak considering that an alcoholic drink in this place is nearly about the same price as you tipped the girl. sounds just like you come lt with me for a 'wiskey-cola'?
i usually also tip them between 250K-400K depending on their performance!

Hi Griffin............I agree with ur view. Just adding my seribu rupiah worth here......If I recall correectly, the girl had 3 drinks at th30 and a couple more at the hotel.
And the drinks were on me.
Being a senior member in the forum, need ur advise..should I have STILL tipped her more ?

Hi Griffin.......2 phrases that come to mind..........the misgivings of a newbie or genuine cheapskate.
Been travelling to Indonesia for a number of years and never found myself fit for mongering, I dare say. Always make plans in advance and I know my schedule right to the "T" before my arrival in to Indonesia - old fashioned GFE preferring chap, I suppose.
Guess that's what the net is for!
