I live in Jakarta. But I'm trying to move to Bangkok. This Ramadhan is really crap. The other expats here tell me this year is far worse than prior years. That they are really clamping down on bars now where they did not do so before. All I know is that it's 180 degrees different than before Ramadhan. And it stinks.

Hey lookin'.... wait till around new year's time and see what will happen. I lived there in 2000 and just when you thought you're having fun in Kemang, some punks in white robes thrashed Salsa and Pasir Putih. Got myself outta there in a flash!
But somehow I still love the place... and keep coming back there!

BlokM/Pelatahan bars were going last night..a little quiet, but most everything in the open. They literally parked a truckload of Polisi at the entrance, 20 or 30 of em. I guess to deter the jihadi-crews...
Yeah, anyway, Ramamdan wears on everyone. Trick is, find a "bad" muslim gf, hire a christian pembantu and stock the fridge with beer...why the hell did stadium and millenium have to close for the whole damn month??? I only had one good, pre-ramadan night out since I arrived! Boo-hoo.
Musro in Borobudur is a good choice, just don't go till 1am at the earliest.

LookinFerLuv.............in case you haven't noticed, Jkt still rocks. I am not suggesting throwing caution to the wind, but......live it up a bit. Indonesia is excellent for GFE.......as you know yourself.
Even a dim witted moron can score in Bkk.
Just my seribu Rupiah worth of advice.

Jakarta does NOT rock during Ramadhan this year. Believe me. And even a dim witted moron can score in Jakarta as well. Indonesia is most likely the second easiest place in the world to score after Thailand. (it is not even hard to score during Ramadhan. But it is not openly fun here during Ramadhan like it normally is as far as the bar scene, etc.)
If you want a challenge to your wit in picking up girls, go to India, not Jakarta. there is no challenge at all in jakarta. But even though it's still easy to pick up girls, it's just not any fun during Ramadhan. I can't wait to get back to Bangkok next week!

Except for the BlokM bars closing at 2am and being closed for the night occasionally, I have not found it to be that dissappointing. I kind of prefer the hotel clubs anyway...CJ's, Tiga Puluh and BATS are all going strong. Musro and Retro are still serving the late-late experience if desired.
On the other hand, the MP's are all shut down, Millenium, Stadium...You can always go watch the "Thai Go-Go Dancers" at Zen...I can't quite figure that place out, of course I'm not a rich Chinese/Korean/Japanese/Indo business man, so maybe I'm not meant to figure it out. Its still fun to look at though.

Think of Jakarta as the non paying GFE kinda place. I am sure you can get a girl and hold on to her till Lebaran!

Those dancers at Zen are ok for a one time thing. But it's a waste to go there if you ask me. Kind of like the naked dancers at Bengkel Cafe.
