There was no such restriction when I took that Gatwick Habana flight in Cubana a handfull of years ago. It was a DC-10 then.

Smegito, I tried to find the Cubana (Novair) flight on 'Lastminute.com', 'Opodo' etc - TV teletext but it did not come up anywhere. The service is OK. The Captain or First Officer is usually a Swede but the rest of the crew are Cuban. The aircraft is only about four years old but already is looking tatty inside. I think Novair also uses it on a number of Spanish charter flights from Stockholm and the aircraft has a definite Charter Holiday look about it. The food was OK - usual airline stuff but they did have some nice Spanish red wine. The leg LGW-HOL-HAV is a long one as the aircraft stops in Holguin to drop of some hoilday makers and as you know Cuba is a long island. The return flight to Gatwick was direct.

I also enjoyed the pictures. The forts reminded me, a little bit, of Nassau in the Bahamas, and that 50's era taxi looked in great shape. Would you happen to know what type of vehicle that was? A Ford, or perhaps a Studabaker?

thaiaficionado, The name on the rear wing looks like Chevrolet 'Bel-Aire' ? I took most of the photos but this one was taken by my friend who had just enjoyed a ride in the immaculate beast. He still has the taxi driver's business card so if I go back I want to have a tour in that car ! Just checked the net, definitely Chevrolet 'Bel-Aire' either a 54,55,56, or 57 model ? 'Bel-Aire' pictures.

I asked my Portuguese friend 'The Stud' Jose are you going back to Thailand you know you love it there? To which he replied,"Oh no Comandante Lobo, I am going back to Cuba. I am fed up with TG packwan!" Cuba has 300 unspoilt beaches. I shall return to Thailand because I still like the place, but I shall also return to Cuba. Even just for the music, the unspoilt beaches and the cigars ! And oh yes, the people, they are great !
