Last time I was there (2 years ago) I went off with a taxi driver to some suburb looking for beaver and I never felt threatened. I was solo but travelling with a sports team, most of whom were too chicken to come out hunting for pussy.

I was there a few months before the latest crackdown and frankly felt totally safe in my strolls around town. Mind you, like any other city, there are places better left untraveled however I never saw any.
If it is putang you are going out for....depending on your hotel, there will likely be plenty right there in the hotel bar or nightclub so might not need to travel far anyway
Keep in mind they have been under a zero-tolerance regime with lots of police (plain clothes and military) for a long time and not looking for trouble by going after the few tourists that come. Overall, I found the Burmese people the nicest and friendliest in the region.
..AND while in Bagan I saw THE MOST beautiful women. Tall, natural beauties, not caked with make-up or all this fashion crap...these were plain and simple the most beautiful women in the region IMHO. I am informed there is an area not far from there that apparently is known for their tall goddesses and from what I saw...a well deserved reputation.

Fun nightlife in Yangon, and safe for a white boy on the prowl.
Government doesn't ban the girls under 20 from the clubs and keeps the monks in line. Thailand should learn from it.

Myanmar is a fantastic place to visit. Devout Buddhists, and picturesque temples, abound. A well mannered populace and an uncorrupted Burmese culture in which to immerse one's self. And, a government that values the tourist dollar. Use common sense and you'll be changed by it. For the better.

Yep. And plenty of cheap hookers as well. Wonder if the place is becoming a new sex tourist center coz I see more and more foreigners in Yangon seedy nightspots.
Le Planteur is a great restaurant to eat and relax BTW. Must do if you are in Yangon, and somehow they sell wines almost the same price as in Paris.
