I posted yesterday but thought there might be a more appropriate place to ask my query but this seems to be the closest in relevance..
On my BKK trip coming up I am doing 2 days in Tokyo on the way over....Shibuyu I think is where my buddy told me to stay...
I will be solo (no mrs atl) on this leg of the trip....do any guys have any recommendations or "must do" tips in a 48 hour span? I really am just excited about experiencing the energy of it.
also, how does the P4P thing work there and whats the going rates???
any info is appreciated and if there is a more appropriate place for this...my bad....

If there is a city in the world that truly never sleeps it is Tokyo. There are several decent nightlife areas, and a few red-light areas as well. The most distinctive night lifes areas are Roppongi, Shinjuku, and Shibuya.
Roppongi is geared more towards foreigners. Bars ranging from English/Irish pubs to shot bars, with a few dance clubs in the mix, and some hostess and strip clubs in the mix as well.
Shinjuku is a younger crowd (college – twenty somethings), some standard bars here, but much more geared towards the dance/techno/house music DJ type scene.
Shihuya has a similar but smaller (also tends to be younger) scene than Shinjuku.
The standard nightlife is broken into two crowds – those that go out fairly early and come home on the last trains. And those that go out on the last train of the night and then come home on the first morning trains. Typically the last trains run between 11:30 and 1:00 AM depending on the station. And the first trains I think start sometime between 4:30-5:30AM. Most bars will stay open pretty much as long as they stay busy and have customers paying for drinks. If you are in a bar and it seems busy but they still close, chances are it is because not enough people are buying drinks. There were plenty of times I left the bar at 8, 9, 10 AM on a Staturday morning after an all night Friday bender.
I lived in Tokyo for several years and had a grand time. Loved pretty much every minute of it. I did not think it was possible to drink more than I did my freshman year at university – but my time in Tokyo proved me wrong.
Wait a minute - didn't you say somewhere that you wanted to quit drinking?

In regard to P4P:
As TU says the P4P is a bit of a mine field for non-Japanese. If you have someone that speaks Japanese fluently (even if they are a westerner) you chances increase dramatically. Or if you can hook up with someone that knows the current scene you have a good chance as well. There are places that cater to westerners but most of them have Chinese or Thai ladies. And then there are places that have Japanese ladies and will service non-Japanese but those are few and far between.
IMHO the best bets for hooking up with a Japanese bird in Tokyo is either picking them up in a bar, or using one of the few escort type services that will send a Japanese bird to your room.
Tokyo is actually not that bad of a place when it comes to P4P, but it takes some time to work out the system and find the places that will give you the service you want. It is a bit like monger networking.
I have been living outside of Tokyo for too long to really be able to give specific places when it comes to P4P.

Yeah and guys are complaining about ST/LT prices going up in Thailand. I could just imagine getting a Thai girl in Japan then getting the huge bill at the end.
As far as Japanese girls go, there used to be a guy that talked about getting a lot of Japanese tail in Thailand on BTF. He outline the whole MO. Yellow cabs as they are called, basically Japanese girls traveling in packs on vacation and looking for farang action. He also spoke Japanese, so that definitely helped.
