JSF, I too was surprised when we had to pay in several venues, is this just a weekend thing? I am really surprised about York, I have never paid there, and as far as I can recall, you never had to either when we were together.
Well if you recall everytime we went to the york it was before 9 pm. That is when they allow free entry. And also if I happen to go with you after 9 pm they would let me in without the entrance charges because I was with you. They let in an asian if he is accompanied by a white westerner.
In my case, I will be honest, they do make an exception and let me walk in without paying if I get there late. Guess they have seen me there so often that they dont want to charge me. But I make it a point to meet guys there before 9 pm as I dont want them to think I am taking advantage of the management's generousity towards me.  Most of the security guys know me very well and they just wave me in regardless of what time I arrive.
If this is indeed a case of everyone charging everywhere, I too will have to cross York off the list. Fine for a warm up, but hardly worth it quality wise, too hit or miss.

York still has a two tier charging policy. Asians and white westerner. So you will always be able to go in for free mate. But I, on the other hand, will walk the short distance to the Rockefellas if I have to pay entrance. Pointless paying 50 dhs and going into a place which lacks good talent and which boasts of the racist chinese.
The other places are following Cyclone's lead and charging everyone across the board. Cant say that pleases me but at least there is no race discrimination now at those places.
Pierre- Good to know that you had a good time. Sorry to hear about the L/T turned S/T. It happens pretty often at the bars. I once went to the York with a young fellow from the forrum. He was interested in Diana, the blonde CIS that I have mentioned a few times in the past. Diana had a habit of coming over and talking to me when I went over. I pointed Diana out to the young fella. He liked what he saw. He said he would take her for L/T that night. I offered to make the introductions but he declined. He did not need introductions to talk with a girl at the bar.
Subsequently I left the bar and later on he approached Diana and they went to his hotel for the L/T. Well what do you know. Diana left him a couple of hours later. He was pretty upset the next day when we talked.
I know for a fact that this particular lady gives good service and never rips them off. How do I know? I introduced her to a few of the forum members in the past and they all were very happy with her attitude and service.
I asked Diana the nex time I met her. Her reply was simple. He was here for two days only. Not likely to see him again so why not try and come back to the bar and look for another punter if possible. I told her he was my friend. She said sorry I did not know he was your friend otherwise I would not have done that.
Moral of the story. If they know you are in town for a very short time they know there is no repeat business possible. But if they know you are from Dubai they wont pull those stunts. In this case she knew I am in Dubai and therefore I would know if she pulled any stunts with my friends. Future business from my friends would depend on what I tell my friends.
Pierre, I think you mentioned this Irina to me when we met about 2 years back. So she is still in Dubai and still works out of Rumours. Perhaps the next time you are in town you could point her out to me.
BC- Yes of late inflation does seem to be on the rise. The girls at the Premiere wont go lower then 800 after the initial quote of 1000 and in some case 1200. And who knows if it will turn out to be an S/T? At those prices an S/T is not a pleasing prospect. I am glad of the houses that I frequent. At least there the rates are steady. Though high, the rates now appear more in line with what the bar girls are asking, lower then the Cyclone and Premier ofcourse. (Now with L having left the country E's rates are more or less stable. L attracted too much business so the rates were climbing. ) The only difference between the bars and houses is that at the houses, even if you order room service from the houses, the service is excellent and no worries of an L/T being turned into an S/T.
Both F and E are very strict and customer satisfaction is guaranteed.

Obviously I would prefer free entry for everyone, but if York pulls a stunt like that when I am around, either I will pay your way in or will join you on that stroll to a different club.
You would think that by now, they would realize that you
A. Never cause trouble
B. Bring in considerable new business
The only difference between the bars and houses is that at the houses, even if you order room service from the houses, the service is excellent and no worries of an L/T being turned into an S/T. Both F and E are very strict and customer satisfaction is guaranteed.
Very true, I haver never had any of E´s or F´s girl pull a runner on me.
I did learn the hard way about "new" girls though! Our little N had no idea that the minibar was solid gold real estate. After I fell asleep she helped herself to a couple drinks and some 40Dh snacks. OUCH, 288dhs on the old hotel bill.
Needless to say, we had a chat about that the next time I saw her. She was very contrite and F wanted to kill her, but in the end no big deal. I guess I am just an old softie. Well, not always!

I believe they have noticed that I do get a lot of new friends with whom I meet up and drink. So the Club does get some extra business which could go to other bars if I met up with my friends at some other bar.

I had a chat with her about that as well the other day. And she turned crimson from her pretty forehead down to her neck. She said she was not aware that the rates for mini bar were that high. Now she knows and she wont do it ever again.

Lots of talk here recently about new 'across the board' (ie regardless of skin color) entrance fees and rising prices of the girls. Entrance fees are probably inevitable since so many punters are crowding the places, especially on weekends. But the prices that the girls charge are OUTRAGEOUS if you compare them to prices in other markets, or to what they would expect to earn in their home countries. 300 - 400 p/hr for short time--WTF!!
I've paid that much for all-nighters probably 100 times, but this is equal to $100US/ hr --or more than most of them could earn in a month in their native countries. I know they have costs to cover living in Dubai, but seriously, I wish everybody would just drive a harder bargain and bring prices down to a reasonable level (I know....just wishful thinking). 200 ST or 400 LT is more than enough to earn a living for these girls-- and adds up to WAY more than most white-collar employees earn in Dubai.
Hold the line, boys!! Or save your money and spend it on something really fine in Thailand. Time to take back control of the market!

As far as I know the pimps/madams skim 50% of the top. And the girls have to pay daily rent for housing and food etc. So I would say they end up with about 35 %, that is if they get a customer every day. If not then the average of what they get would be pitiful.
Cannibal is right. We should try and bring the prices down. But what do we do about the sailors? They are on a few hours shore leave with cash to burn. They are not likely to listen to reason. They are out at sea for weeks and then they get a chance to indulge themselves. I doubt they would care two hoots for what they are doing to the prices.
I have seen seamen grab CIS,Chinese or even Afro, leave with her and then they are back again in an hour or so, looking for another CIS or Chinese or Afro. They want to have maximum amount of fun in the limited time they have. They are not going to care too much. The girls are happy at the turn of events.
This trend is not likely to change very soon. The girls know they can get good money for S/T so they try and discourage L/T. The more S/T customers they pull every night the better their bank manager feels.

My reasearch shows a 50% skim (AFTER the "balance" owed for travel etc.) is pretty standard.
The manager will hold the passport until the balance is paid then they get to start keeping 50%
Girls just starting out make nothing, they are just digging themselve out of debt, a debt, that like JSF points out, increases daily with the lodging and food costs.
More independent ladies share an apartment (with no mongering on-site) and sometimes pay nothing to the "manager" once the balance is paid off.

Thursday night was a final night for a a bunch of out of town visitors and a number of them wanted to see the York. Needless to say a significant amount of beer was consumed. Talent wise it was a poor night. Late on when my "guests" had gone I had a final scout around. I was well past my self imposed drink limit for P4P. - so far past it that I didn't have the will power to follow it
I had spotted a very sluttely dressed Afro, mini, boots, far to tight low cut top, acres of cleavage, long hair, earlier on but she seem to have left. I decided to leave but look in the Music room on the way out. She was there, not the most attractive girl around by a considerable margin, even on this very poor night but something drew me and we went off to her place for ST, She was from Madagascar, may this along with the drink, led me to suspend my moratorium on Afros.
All in all it was a very poor session, certainly a starfish and the ample rack was not exactly off limits but it was clear she would rather I kept my mits off! She was also looking for a very quick turn around, understandable from her view point as it was getting late and she had to get back for a change of a second customer.
May be the fact I had negociated the price down to half her inital asking point of 500 didn't help her attitude.
So I broke a couple of my self imposed rules and sure enough I had the first poor experience for some time. In retrospect the warning signs were all there.
Lesson (re) learned - Too much drink = poor judgement = poor experience.
