She asked 500 for S/T initially??? That is what I mean about inflation. Now even the Afros are getting pricey eh? Just a few months back you could walk out with an Afros for 300 dhs L/T. The fact that they probably turned the L/T into S/T most times is a moot point. Almost all the girls do that so cannot hold that against the Afros.
Lesson (re) learned - Too much drink = poor judgement = poor experience.
This is a lesson for everyone I guess.
Last night, for the want of anything better to do, took a drive over to the much vaunted Club in Um Al Quwain. I had heard a lot about it and have been meaning to go over for a looksie for quite sometime. Wish I had gone to the York instead.
Reached there at 10:30 pm and left at precisely 10:35 pm. The place was absolutely deserted. Guess I was early. Maybe the fun starts after midnight. I was too disappointed even to have a drink. The pub has a dance floor on which about a dozen Indian/Pakistani etc girls were dancing to popular indian songs. The tables were all empty except for one on which 4 guys were sitting having a drink. Perhaps the fire works start later in the night. There was no sign of any CIS or Chinese talent. I took one look and left.
It was a waste of a couple of hours. The drive there takes about an hour each way. Not my idea of a fun night out. But the liquor prices there were very competetive. At the liquor store I mean. A bottle of scotch, which would cost about 75 dhs at the liquor stores in dubai, cost 40 dhs there. Grabbed a couple of bottles and left.

Or better yet while getting a massage from a chinese girl for L/T of 400-500 dhs, have an AFro strip in front of the bed for 50 dhs. That way you'll get good service and something nice to look at.

To be fair I have had some very good service and a good GFE form Africans in the past, but the probability of it all going wrong is much higher in my experience. This, along with some of the agressive marketing some employ led me to avoid African girls in general.
It seems I am not alone, but I have freinds who would disagree with this statement and will only take African girls. It is signficant however that there are few posts in their defence in this forum. Afro Fans - let's here your point of view.
On the health issue. We again are dealing with probability and it would be a rash man who assumes a girl is healthy or not based on her country of origin - always take the necessary precautions and be aware of the risks. This is another reason to avoid mising P4P

I will chip in here as well. I have found some very attractive Africans but out of four tries, one, and only one combined a no-scam attitude and gfe.
I think some of this might have something to do with personalities and culture. Most that I have run into speak at least three languages fluently and seem to be in business for business.
Similar to the Chinese, but without the oriental demure attitude.
As for AIDS etc, all of the girls are suspect obviously but I think we have all been deluged by WHO stats for the African continent.
I am sure that plays a part in the "conventional wisdom."
The trick I think, will be to find a good one and pass the contact.
Nobody wants to take one for the team, but if you do stumble upon a good one...
As for the booze-mongering issue, everyone should probably try to establish a personal level of tonsil polish where mongering can be safely done. I found my personal level years ago, and when I reach that point, I grab a taxi back to the hotel, alone.
Every time I have done this, I wake up with a very pleased-with-myself smirk knowing I did the prudent thing, live to fight another day. The only exception has been while drinking in the room with a known provider, then it is not smart, but not stupid.

Traffic woes: rather long. Skip if not interested.
Traffic scene in Dubai is going from bad to worse everyday. Here are some of my pet peeves. It just gladdens the cockles when:
1) You are driving in the second lane of a three-lane road, at the allowed speed, and suddenly notice, in the rear view mirror, this car zooming in on you, flashing his headlights. You look around in panic. There is a car on the right keeping pace with you and there is another on the left also apparently observing the speed limit. There is no way you can go left or right. And this guy is tailgating you, blaring his horn and blinking his headlight. What the F*** does he want you to do? Ram the car in the front, on the right or the left? And then after some distance he gets a chance to go into one of the other lanes and speeds past you and sideswipes you. Huh!!! Excuse me for breathing mate.
2) You are in the correct lane approaching the signal. There is a. left turn, straight and a right turn at the signal. The left turn lane is choke blocked, the straight one is fairly empty, and the one going right is smoothly flowing. A car in front of you suddenly stops, properly giving signal for left turn. But it is in your straight lane. The lane is completely empty in front of this car. But you can’t go further until this idiot is allowed to go into the left lane by the irate motorists, who have been sweating while waiting for the signal to turn. Now, thanks to this jerk, the traffic is getting blocked in the straight lane too. So you turn into the right lane trying to edge into the smooth flowing traffic and edge around this jerk, thereby creating a jam in the right lane as well. Getting a feeling of de ja vu yet friends?
3) You are stuck in the left lane, waiting for the signal to turn green. You are about 20 cars away from the signal. You start counting the number of cars that get through on each signal change. 4 or maybe 5. You can see the signal change to green. You are waiting, ready to push on the accelerator, but the car in front of you stubbornly stays put. The signal has changed back to red. You are bewildered. What the F*** happened? You crane you neck around to find the reason for this phenomenon after you have seen the signal change 4 times already. Ahhh. The smart alecks, in the middle lane, are driving right up close to the start of the line and pushing their way in as soon as the signal turns green. Now wonder you don’t move. At least 4-5 cars push in in front of you. You are there for the duration. Did you pack a sandwich mates?
4) The guy in the car next to you is gesturing to you and asking permission to come in front of you as he has taken the trouble to come all the way up close to the signal in the wrong lane and now thinks that he deserves to me allowed to go in front of you. You are munching at your sandwich, still stuck in the left lane for the last 25 minutes. Are you feeling generous? Does he really care? Is that look on his face really the way god intended it? Well you are a glutton for punishment. You let him in when the signal turns green. He zooms in and gets through the signal. The signal changes the moment you reach the front. You are stuck another 2-3 minutes because you were feeling generous enough to let that guy go in front of you. Still feeling generous? Did you get a soda pop to go with that sandwich?
5) And what about the ninny, with a mobile stuck to his ear, who drives, with one hand on the steering wheel while the other is glued to his ear, in the fast lane at 30 km/hour? There is a lot of traffic and you are stuck behind this guy. You can’t go into the second lane because of all those cars blowing their horns while whizzing past you. Wonder what got their goat? All you are trying to do is get past the ninny. Maybe you should have stayed at home today.

A couple weeks ago someone published a list of GF hotels. As I stay at furnished apartments (daily rate less than hotels especially if company has an account with them), there may be some interest in compiling a list of GF and non-GF apartment buildings as well.
For my part, I came back to Imperial Residence (near Bur Juman, managed by same people as Imperial Suites) with a prior "business partner" (from York). They would not allow me to bring her in. Fortunately she had her own studio apartment off Al Seef Rd near the consulate area. She mentioned both Imperial Residence and their sister apartments (Desert Rose and Pearl Residence) as not being GF any longer.
Since I had been staying at I.R. when in Dubai since 2002, this had been a surprise. The place has always been well-maintained and the apartments quite large, even if it is not as luxurious as even a hotel like the Ramada. Girls used to go in and out quite regularly, and I could pretty much make the walk-of-shame with the people at the desk dutifully looking away. In other words, even easier than the Ramada to bring your date home with you. It was only 2003 that they started wanting photocopies of visas/passports for the girls, but you could still bring them.
Late last year, during the mourning period for the Sheikh Zayed (which was also Ramadan), they did not let guests in. I thought that was temporary, but then last week when I was in town the same thing happened.
As many if not most of the guests of these apartments have gone the last couple years from predominantly businessmen/workers (either by themselves or doubling up in 2 bedrooms) to families (mostly Indian, but more Iranians now), I am suspecting that a more Muslim-friendly policy is affecting the policies of the buildings, as well as some apparently clampdowns by CID.
So for now I will initiate a list of GF and non-GF "hotel-apartments" or furnished apartments, and would invite others to add to it until there is something reasonably as complete as that for the hotels.
GF:
London Crown (stayed there last time in Dubai - mostly studios, some 1 BR's, almost all single guests, some couples - steady stream of guys and their dates coming back - literally dozens)
Non-GF:
Imperial Residence
Pearl Residence
Desert Rose
(all 3 the same landlord, also the same who operates the more Imperial Suites on Rolla St)
