Griffin.............what you're sayin is right.........to a certain extent.
The Indonesian males are quite aware that they do have to improvise their ways, be more subtle and quit their MACHO images (I doubt why they even have then) if they wanna make out with the ladies as easy as foreigners do.
Money is NOT the only issue here. it has a lot to do with courtesy - opening doors, asking the girl what and how she likes etc.
As for the hatered, well, in its own way, its justified. You wouldnt like it if you were a horny dog down in Australia and the girls has "better" feelings for forgieners. Some people take it lying down, some create trouble.
My advise would be keeping away from Jakarta. Bandung is anyday a better place. Plus, there are classifieds on the net............use them effectively.

John NM..............a man to go after my own heart. Good thinking Dude. Its better spending your greenback on the ladies rather than the hotels.
A few messages earlier I had mentioned Hotel Golden. Its at Gunung Sahari. Nice 3* hotel and the staff dont pester you if you have an extra guest at nite. 20-25$ range with buffer breakfast. Another reasonably good hotel is Hiotel Classic, same vicinity, maybe 1 km from hotel Golden, the area's called Krekot. Then in the same are there's Hotel permata - I dont like it much, airconditioning is not good. Biut its cheaper than the other two.
This area works well as its close to the action.......Mangga Besar (quite a few pubs down there), Sarinah (Mc Donalds there is a fav for expats for picking up chicks). Even nite clubs like JJ's, Tanamour etc. are not all that far away. Spend a couple of dollars on Taxis and well, you're set for the night.
Its better than paying those ridiculously priced hotels.
In terms of nite clubs, my personal fav is TIGAH PULUH (30). Been there on a few weekends. Non professional girls.......Better than your average hooker, though a few lookers/stunners can found there as well. They can be be had for 80K-150K Rupiah range. These girls are mostly university students &/or girls with full time jobs - secrearies, receptionsits, hair dressers, sales girls in malls.............wanting to make an extra buck for fashion clothing, make up etc.
If you like a chickie (in terms of no hassles, good looks and performance..........not necessarily in that order), ask her to meet u on a daily basis, so long as you are in Indonesia. Have more of a GF experience rather than a one nite business transaction. All you gotta bear in mind is treating her well - be sensitive, nite life every nite, dining at good (not expensive) restaurants etc.
Indonesia is one place where, at any given day in the year, you can have a ball. or was it bust !

I am considering a trip to Indonesia in August 2003 after my second trip to Thailand
From the reports that I've read, Indo and Jakarta seem like a great value with very nice looking and attentive girls.
Finding a place where I can "get the best bang for my buck" is very important because I'm on student budget.
***Here are my two questions men:***
1. If I am heading to Indo, is Jakarta the best place to locate myself for a 8-10 day trip so I can be in the best pussy territory?
2. Within Jakarta, where can I focus my attention and hotel planning to put me in the best spot to enjoy the pussy considering that I won't have a car and would prefer to only take cabs on a rare occasion? I'm a photographer, and I like to be on foot most of the time.
For example, if I had a friend that was headed to Bangkok for the first time, I'd tell him without question that he needs to stay around Soi 4 and Sukhumvit. There is action all over the city, but having Soi 4 and Suk as a base camp works out well and there's piles of pussy right next door at NEP.

indonesia has so many nice places!
of the big cities like jakarta, bandung and surabaya they all have their different charmes. if you like the girls white skinned you better head of to bandung as people in the mountains have fairer skin same as in thailand (also lots of students there).
nightlife wise best variety, quality and quantity of the country is in jakarta.
surabaya is a big industrial and port city so you will be the superstar there as not many foreigners (bule) will be there!
also do not forget bali as the beach resort for indonesia where a lot of girls hang around to entertain some foreign guys!
if you are planning to stay in jakarta either stay around blok m for the shopping and more downmarket places or around the grand hyatt hotel which is supposed to be the center of jakarta.
but mind you nightlife wise not even comparable to thailand as there is only a handful places to go! on the other hand this makes it very easy for a newcomer to grab the scene!
if you have only 8 days i would do 3-4 days in jakarta and the rest in bali. or may be when you are a photographer you are more interested in the ancient indonesian art and style. this will command a trip to yogyakarta and solo (where the current two kings / sultans from indonesia are still living). also in this area is borobodur the magic budhist monument which is very nice to visit! from all the cities in indonesia i personally liked yogyakarta and solo best for their ancient style and beauty!

1. , how does one go about finding hotels around Block M?
2. Is "block M" monger speak, or if I mention that area to an online hotel service are they going to know what I'm talking about?
3. Are there massage places around block M?
4. Do you have any websites for hotels in the area?
5. What exactly is block M? Is it just the pussy area (like NEP-bkk) or is it a larger area that also contains shopping malls, stores and restaurants?
